Nethrom and I have been talking about possible cool new weapons for a while, and i decided to write some of them down and see what you guys think about the bombs we came up with.

#1 Smoke Bomb
-when placed creates a (harmless) dust cloud. after fuse time, dust ignites for dmg. (about 4* mist bomb radius as a 5*?)
-pve: takes away monster agro from all allies while they are in the radius of the bomb. (it took me a while to write all this down and get around to putting it up, but i realize that the new battle sprite will already kind of do this...)
-pvp: cloaks allies standing in bomb radius.
** this was also suggested in forum node 82084 but we came up with the idea on our own and had a different idea how it should work. go check out what they had to say though.

#2 Disco Bomb
-upon explosion creates a flashing light show and music.
-causes enemies to periodically break into dance for a short time.
ex: wolvers do caramelldansen. retrodes do the robot. mini gremlins rave.
feel free to suggest a dance you want a particular kind of monster to do, and some for players in lockdown. (and yes we do realize how hard this would be to make...)

#3 Tinker Toys Bomb
-upon explosion, deploys multiple little robots that wonder aimlessly in any direction for a short time before exploding.

#4 Ripple Bomb
-creates a slow moving shock-wave from the center that pushes back enemies and does some damage to them.

#5 Crumby Bomb
-summons a hoard of snipes to the bomb area. (they remain in that area) snipes would behave much like wolvers, attacking enemies in range and using the flight animations instead of "warping" and dashing.

#6 Thorn Tangle Bomb
-creates temporary briar patches to dmg over time and poison enemies who walk through them.

#7 Exploding Block Bomb
-creates a stone block blocking movement, which explodes after 3-5 hits in a large radius. (add status effects?)
-stone block would crumble without exploding after a time limit allowing only 2 on screen per player.
-have it blend into the nearby terrain as a bush or other type of block?

#8 Ice Rink Bomb
-creates an ice patch causing everyone's movement changes to be much more difficult. touching a wall stops you and allows you to "push off" in a new direction.
-bomb would do dmg over time as an enemy skates on the surface. low chance to freeze? freeze after a certain number of dmg applications from bomb? (3-5?)

#9 Bumper Bombs
-creates a pinball bumper like object that knocks back any enemy that touches it, dealing minor dmg.
-add elemental effects? stun?

#10 The Box
-random chance to use any bomb of equal star level to "The Box".
-have a .1% chance to have a giant snipe fall on the area dealing heavy damage to everyone including allies, knocking enemies back, and obstructing the view for a short while.

__________________________________________________________________________________________
Shadow Lair themed bombs:
(because i think SL just for armor is weird, and these fit nicely)

#11 Looming Playtime
-summons 2 snarbolax cubs which will attack one after the other with about the same timing as a heavy sword double swing.
-snarby cubs start at the bomb center and perform a straight dash towards the closest enemy to them. the dash having about half the range of a brandish charge, roughly the same width, and continuing to the bomb's radius. possibly stun?
*brandish charge length is about the diameter of a mist bomb, so 2 cubs traveling opposite directions would essentially give it a mist bombs diameter.

#12 Maleficent Marmalade (jelly launching bomb)
-upon starting a charge, a blob of jelly is attached to the floor. as you charge you may walk, and the walk speed slows as you get further from the starting jell.
-when charge is released the jelly bomb flys off as if shot by a sling shot, depending on how far you pull it back. jelly blob lands and explodes after a short fuse time.

#13 Roaring Redemption
-summons 2 small Raormulus gun puppy's in front and behind the bomb with a one block gap in the center. the puppy's each fire a single roamulus laser away from the center for a short time. then the puppys move to the left and right position and repeat the lasers. total range of the bomb should be slightly bigger than a 5* mist bomb.
-initial direction of the bomb effects the direction of the roarmulus laser aim. if aimed up or down when placed it would perform a vertical laser, then a horizontal laser. (aim-able in any direction? or the basic 8 directions?) placing two bombs in a row would create a + pattern after the initial vertical shot with max ctr timing.
*add shock or fire status?

#14 King's Shadow
-summons between 2-5 randomly aimed meteors which remain on the ground as temporary shadow fires to dmg, burn enemies who touch them, and block enemy movement.

if you made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope these at least spark some ideas. and if you're a bomber, good luck. we know you need it.

1. Yeah, you've seen that thread.
2. I'd like to see the monsters do that when idle. Not as a bomb though.
3. Interesting, but too engineer-based I think, in that it doesn't do large area damage.
4. I like it.
5. Read 3
6. Again, 3
7. Not very clear. Can you explain more in-depth? Give an example?
8. Once again, 3
9. 3, although a proximity fuse may be useful.
10. I'd rather have a chaos bomb

11. Not really...
12. A slow-speed shard bomb? They're already broken
13. I kinda skimmed this after seeing something about summoning RTs. I like the idea of a laser bomb, but BTB and WHB have enough summoning for the game.
14. If this were just one meteor and it had the effect of an FoV charge, I'd get it.

Great ideas, really refreshing. Just a bit of fine-tuning for some of them. Also, since you're creative, do you have any ideas to help bombers break blocks and minerals?

i'm ok with bombs that don't do large area of effect damage... especially considering the ones we already have don't work that well for that purpose anyways... they make due, but they aren't great. this was mainly to start coming up with new ideas anyway since the good bombs basically fall into 2 categories right now. mist, and damage based aoe like nitro and DBB.

#7 block bomb. it would become 2 by 2 stone block, like the existing stones that take multiple hits to destroy. maybe only 1.5 or 1 square block depending on how that would work out to not completely cut off small choke points in LD but still hinder movement. basically mixing a bomb block with a durable concrete block and increasing the explosion size.

#12 not a shard bomb. it's meant to be a small throw-able bomb essentially. roughly the size of a 3* nitro or so as a 5* jelly bomb. it wouldn't do damage while traveling, only at the land location, and only go in the one direction. maybe it could do knock-back on the way, i hadn't thought of that before. it's more so bombers have some sort of fighting initiation and surprise attack. i also forgot to mention it would travel over short walls just like guns.

as for the mineral breaking, the bomb placement animation could gain a small block breaking area of effect that does no damage (or 1 or something trivial) to monsters. even the bomb raising could do it to increase speed and let bombers just spam it next to boxes and crystals. it wouldn't be useful in battle anyways as the bomb spamming speed is really limited.

and thanks for the feedback. ^_^

Kind of #3

#4

#3 and #5 seem very similar...

#7 is like placing a low-HP Blast Cube that doesn't move or attack, right?

#11 seems OP

#13 seems fairly useless, maybe increase the frequency or the range?

#14

But really, +1 to everything except #5 and #11. Really cool ideas.

@klipik-forum

i had it in my head that #3 and #5 were pretty different, but reading it again i see how that might seem really similar.
#3 the robots aren't supposed to have a max range they can wander from the center of the bomb, they just go till the timer runs out and they blow up.
#5 the snipes would act like wolvers, tracking down and attacking enemies over and over while staying inside the bomb radius, until the timer runs out.
i hope that clears up my ideas a little for you. they are similar i guess, but they'd play very different.

#7 more like an explosive concrete block. the number of hits would be set, so it would take the same number of hits with a Gran Faust as it would with an Argent Peacemaker. at least that's how i was thinking about it.

#11 of course balancing is an issue with all new weapons. if they were to make the bomb, OOO would have to see what would make it good but not too good. maybe decreasing the range, coming up with a good damage, seeing if stun and a lower damage works, etc... there are too many factors for me to say for sure that it'd be OP, but i wanted it to seem good at least.

#13 with damage, knockback like the real RT lasers, and possibly shock or fire i'd love to use this bomb. mostly because i think the second firing would catch a lot of people off guard, and locking down paths could also be done with either set of laser fire. depending on how long the lasers actually fired for it could be way too good, or it could be bad like you say. RT lasers also hit multiple times if you stand in them, so depending how the bomb is made, it could potentially lock someone against a wall and kill them. (in light of this, shock might be a little too good...)

thanks for the feedback and support ^_^
i hope i cleared some of my ideas up for you too.

Just because I want to see a bunch of wolvers doing the caramelldansen.

In fact, it should act like a mist bomb, should play the caramelldansen song, and should make
everything do caramelldansen. Endless hours of hilarity.

that's not what "common" means.
