Side note, me and Creeper are working with this next post, discussed it in-game
Hour’s Till Midnight (Open RP "Taking Applications")
Talk about in in forum, this will help me understand about peoples posts when they are vague like that. It gets harder to understand what you mean to me and I am sure the other players when you just post it like that and no one understands what the reason is or whats going on. It would be even better if you both posted individually for reference in the RP Thread so we can read and understand from both view points.
This also helps me better set up situations where you both are able to take care of them. As it stands all I understand is Robo N8 is now out of commission and the Gremlin on him kinda got a case of the dead from the fall. No one made it out of the fall unscathed. You ended up falling around four/Five stories.
My fault stupidly hoping on Robo N8 and now I need to create a new character... App coming soon...
I am just saying for next time. We need to see more then one side on a topic to see how it work, other wise I have to say that your PC is very much a pancake and well GAME OVER follows. IN this case I am letting it pass.
Next time both of you post, no short cuts.
It's really my fault and so, Molpos is dead... I really don't think he would ever survive and since he usually backflips, he would fall down even farther and wouldn't survive so it's game over for him...
You said he had to jump down if he wasn't to get a game over! YOU EVEN SAID IN THE OPTIONS
QUOTED FROM Darkwatck "A) YOu went threw with them taking some fall damage because the elevator is not damage and requiers the Gremlins to fix it once it goes out of rotation. (Alive)
B) Get stuck on Depth 19 as it cycles out into the vast expanding void of the Clockworks where Robo N8 is lost and more then likely deconstructed by the Gremlin Colonists. (Game Over)
C) You Sacrifice yourself by staying behind to make sure none of the Zombies fall threw to the next depth before the level shifts, see Option B for the rest of this. (Game Over)
D) YOu too fall damage on the way down and are now in need of an Engineer/Friendly Gremlin's hand to work again. (Alive)
Reguardless if you pick D or A your going to take some damage. You a falling robot your not going to make it out of this unscathed. No one is, and on Depth 20 I am going to be throwing some thing special your way."
I chose Option D which is more damage which I described in my post. I gave proof so why are you saying "no short cuts" when you told me to go down to continue?
If your going to just keep killing off your PCs, I am going to decline all your new apps. I wanted to implament this new rule but I am going to give everyone fresh slate. So Creeper here is my offer.
Offer 1) Keep going and have no Penalty to your PC.
Offer 2) Kill off this character and you get only 1 more Application. After that your out of chances.
Now the game rule is this, we are going to implement a Life system into the RP. What do I mean by Life system? well this.
You get 2 lifes, each life is an Application I will be keeping track of the apps. This gives Players the chance to keep playing after they died. So Ex:
You all start off with Two lifes (+2) which means you can make an Application. The moment you make an Application and it is Accepted into the RP you lose One Life (-1) which leaves you with One life (1) left. You can make a New app which will deduct from your current lifes. If I believe you are doing good I will give you a Life (+1). No other Moderator can do this, sorry Edo and Potato, this also means you two will have to suffer this.
So as it stands Creeper if you take Offer 1, you will have one more Application before Its the FINAL GAME OVER. Taking Offer 2 means this After your next application is taken and the PC dies its your FINAL GAME OVER and you will not be aloud to make a new application for the RP.
Sorry to have to resort to this level of harshness, but I should do it to A) limit the number of Applications in a RP, and B) so we all do have too many PC's to worry about. Only moderators and the OP should have more then the limited for they need to control NPC's and Critical Characters for the Story. Out side of this I will be keeping track of the Number of Lifes you all have left.
----
Sin, those Options where just for your PC, not you and Creepers OCs. Before you lose it understand, I can only guess at who all was with Robo N8 because you two Short Cut your posts.
How about this then, my character is still alive but is in critical condition because of me short cutting down. Is that suitable for you Dark?
Creeper, All I am asking is that you post and don't short cut your posts by condensing them down with some one else. Also if you chose for your PC to live then do so. I am only doing this so I can A, understand whats going on and make sure your following the story, and B, to know what all to throw at you at the current time. This does not mean the story will be easy it means that I will be testing you on how well you can RP and get out of a situation. Even if it means resorting to the use of deadly force.
See your lucky, since you feel into Depth 20 with them, Potato's PC is a Mender, I am sure if Robo N8 care and asked Potato's OC to help I am sure the little feller can help as long as your OC is alive.
The party button; since it wasn't exactly designed for non-humanoids, Gradus "fixed" that.
EDIT: Woah, like 10 posts immediately before mine. This is addressed to Spiral-Ore.
So, I only shortcut because we talked in game but I realized now that talking in-game for a post is a bad idea and I should have asked how Molpos was going to get down...
1st) How are you making it with no header :L
2nd) Was stated we should avoid such things as 'Party Buttons' Those are Game devices to progress the game play with a party. For ingame lets replace them with something along the likes of a key pad or something else that unlock the gates. Something practical and would not be out of place here. Maybe a switch on the wall. IDK.
At no point except today, you NEVER mentioned about the life system so I didn't know why. You should have mentioned it at the very start...
For the subject, placing a 0 in it does the trick.
Hmm, I guess I could say there's a "forcefield" or something that wasn't designed to let a monster (Ark) through it, since Gremlins run maintenance on the Clockworks and prefer to not die while doing it.
Alright that is fine and thank you for telling me this
Thinslayer: I just updated the OP, see it for STARTING ZONE'S
The problem with the Swarm and the Knights is simply a failure to communicate. Neither understands the other. The Swarm is essentially a super-organism, with lesser sentient beings forming the "cells" to form the greater whole, resulting in a single, individual mind, physically located and centralized in the Void. It is capable of absorbing energy in any form, be it physical or free. The process is a rather sluggish one when the source in question is far from the Void and physically blocked, resulting in what is often dubbed the “corruption” of the source.
The knights find the prospect of joining a "hive mind" to be horrific. And curiously enough, the Swarm finds the prospect of being overrun by individuals to be equally horrific. Imagine your face being overrun by an army of angry ants! That’s roughly how the Swarm sees the Knights.
They fail to understand each other, each seeing the other as utterly horrific, while ignoring the commonalities between them. Humans are essentially a different form of hive mind (what with the Internet and all, and considering their inherently social nature), while the Swarm is essentially a glorified individual.
But neither is able to perceive this.
And so they fight.
Yes, I can see this I can understand this I can go with this. But at its root the Swarm is called an Organic Machine. This means that the Swarm works on two fronts the Organic front being the ability to go into the body and 'merge' with the host's cells and make them work as one with the universal mind that is the Swarm. This is what you stated before being the ability to 'corrupt' the body and mind into the endless army that is the Swarm. Now in stating this I must give another part that is the Machine part of the Organism in this case. Since it was stated in the lore of SK that the Swarm is partly a creation from the Gremlin King we can only assume it was made by a Bio-Tech the same way a Battle Sprite is.
Given we know this much and how a Battle Sprite can take on the form of it's environment causing mutations along its line forming the Maskerith, Drakon, and the Cat thing (Sorry to lazy to look it up, Citation needed) it can be assume that the Swarm too can take on the form of it's Environment but it needs something more to make it more solid. Thus the 'Corruption' comes into play not as to make a new puppet but also as a breeding tool to reproduce and make more Swarm since it is made up of smaller 'cells' that take over the host body. These cells must enter the new host's body some how.
This takes me to a new topic that comes down to infection/Corruption. The Swarm is a Cell this means it has weight and Gravity effects it, so it means that it is non-airborne and needs contact with the surface of it's new victim. Since it is so small it needs more then one cell to infect a victim rather a whole 'colony' of them. So when going near the swarm its preferred that some ones suit is Harmonically sealed to prevent infection of said swarm. This does not take into account 'save zones' where the Swarm becomes harmless. For this I present something elses that the Swarm is able to adapt to its Environment threw a 'sudden change' of its 'cells'. This making the Swarm harmless for it has a balance in its cells and the outside world where it can reproduce freely and does not need a host (See the Sanctuary).
We can conclude allot from our two ideals on the Swarm but in the end we still need a Bio-Tech to understand this as well as time to understand more of the Swarm.
Your last post doesn't make sense. What is up with the time is up? It doesn't make sense to me...
Like the formics and the humans in the Ender's Game series? I like it. Hmm...
Fighting against the Swarm should be unnerving. You know how in WWII, Americans were okay fighting against the Germans but not against the Japanese? Anybody know why? Because the Japanese were SO different. Germans were kind of like us, valuing their own lives in much the same way we valued ours. But the Japanese didn't value their own lives quite that much. At times, they could be downright suicidal. No red-blooded American could imagine suiciding his own aircraft into an enemy ship, let alone do it for the President's sake (as the Japanese did it for the Emperor).
So we hated the Japanese. They were just so, so different. I want the battles against the Swarm to be equally unnerving. Think about it; the Swarm has, like, a zillion regenerating arms, called Void Forms. The loss of a few doesn't bother the Swarm much, though it certainly hurts. The Swarm can afford to use swarming tactics, and can pursue its enemies relentlessly and intelligently.
Now let that sink in for a second.
The undead, slimes, and constructs pursue you relentlessly, but they're not very intelligent.
Gremlins, beasts, and fiends are highly intelligent, but do not pursue you relentlessly.
The Swarm, on the other hand, does both.
That is what should make the Swarm so devastating. Each Void form acts like an individual, watching the battlefield, taking risks, sometimes fighting to preserve itself. Cornering a Void Form should have exactly the same effect you'd see cornering any other individual - it will suddenly boost its fighting resolve and battle you to the death. But the Swarm also doesn't retreat, because it doesn't have to - it can (usually) afford regenerate lost Void forms, and hence can doggedly pursue you to the bitter end like zombies do.
Opinions?
Now that you mention it, yeah, kinda like the Formics. ^_^
Well you gave Potato something good to work with. See this is way I like the Swarm as an enemy, it has a mind it has the ability to think like a person but creeps us out at the same time. Hell we could be freaking out at nothing when really there is much more right in front of us.
Thinslayer you should collaborate with Potato to make the immersion factor of the Swarm much more believe able when it comes time for us to venture into the Shadow-Layer. Potato your doing fine so far I am not saying anything by asking Thin to help, he just makes some good points that you should take into account.
To be frank, I think Thin might be better with the Swarm. I'm having a hard time distinguishing the Swarm from Apocrea, since my mind is assuming the two are one and the same. I want to write the Swarm not as a necessarily spooky Slender-like creature, but I'm finding that rather difficult. I'll gladly welcome some help. [Going to take all the credit though. Heh.]
Apocreans would still be Void Forms, albeit more advanced-looking ones. Each Void Form is like a limb; some are larger than others, some more versatile than others, some more intelligent than others, but all are vital to the whole. If I were to compare Void Forms with parts of the human body, Apocreans would be like the hands of the Swarm. They have sufficient dexterity and subtlety to be used for things like communication, espionage, and such like, while maintaining the strength to "curl up into fists" and dish out some blunt force trauma.
Fell free to start. In the OP I stated the starting zones for all races in the RP. Thou I gave the choice's of every race because I believe choice is importen. Now at any time you may start.
Understood. I think I should catch up on the story first before posting, so...I'll start when I'm ready. ;)
And as always, there's more to Gwen than meets the eye. The scar under her right eye is slightly different from the one belonging to RtC's Gwen, indicating that this one is from a different timeline, but not so very different from the other one.
Well, the key difference is that Apocreans seem to be otherworldly; the obelisks seem to hint that they are extradimensional creatures who came to this world for some unknown agenda. Plus their behavior seems to be like an individual mind, as the Swarm would just zerg rush, whereas the Apocreans carefully and selectively eliminate knights one at a time.
Also, I hope my most recent post wasn't too wut.
Of course the Apocreans act like individuals; like I said, they're sufficiently complex to allow for subtle, individualistic behavior. Not all Void Forms are designed like that.
Besides, even the Zerg can exhibit individualistic behaviors. Remember, Zerg-rushing is only *one* tactic out of many. They have Queens, Overlords, and several other beings that can perform quite well-enough without being in a pack. If it helps, think of Apocreans as being like Zerg Queens. They're still part of the hive mind, but aren't designed to be multiplied like ants.
But if we were treating Apocreans like Zerg Queens, it would be logical to not have a very large supply, as they are more "precious"; in Shroud of the Apocrea, you can kill the Apocrean as many times as you want, but a new one simply reappears.
Unlike in the game, the Swarm relies on physical resources, but its resource supply is *essentially* limitless since it only uses pure energy and is capable of transforming anything and everything into pure energy (and back again into matter). That said, it *is* possible to starve the Swarm of resources - that is, in fact, what the Core was built for. But since the Swarm escaped, all hell has broken loose.
That's the theory, anyway.
Or the Core is an energy source that the Gremlins build, the outer part being some kind of protective shielding designed so that no Swarm could get in and take the energy. Either way its possible to be either or.
And there's something else in the Core; the Sanctuary proves that.
I have some major plot twists planned for that. >:)
Let's chat in-game.
This Story has not reached that far yet will ye. Lets not brake the flow too early, unless your talking about another thread...
The plot twists will have far-reaching effects on the story up till they're revealed.
... Lets try not to diverge from the story this far. I want the story to follow the guided hand I am trying to lead it :L Not Side Story the game here. However your Character is a Bio-Tech/Researcher so since I am controlling the rest you will have to contend with me a little in your 'findings'.
Name: Skellington
Race: Undead Skeleton (Second life from zombie)
Rank: In terms of Knights "Vanguard"
Role: Sniper
Appearance
-Gender: Male
-Height: 7'0
-Weight: 62 lbs
-Age: Been dead for 20 years
-Eye Color: Black
-Marking: Jaws are slightly pulled out more.
Equipment
-Chest: Expanded Rib Cage
-Legs: Covered in bones
-Helm: No helm because of expanded Jaw.
-Weapons: Bow and Arrows, HP is 15,000 with immunity to all status
Sniped shot, concentrates on a target and shots an armor piercing arrow (Deals about 20% health), if hit, loses concentration and fails attack.
Arrow rain: Jumps high into the air and launches 6 arrows in a nearby area.
Knockback punch: If anyone gets near and he isn't preparing a bow shot, he will do a weak punch to knock back before preparing a bow shot.
Constrict: When low on health and anyone is using swords, he will open his rib cage and slowly suffocate the opponent, releases if hit by someone else.
Bio: Skellington was originally a dust zombie in a graveyard until he died and his bones lied on the ground. As his bones where on the ground, they started to form together to revive his old self but as a skeleton instead. After Skellington was revived, he started looking for something to fight back because his old attacks would be useless.
After exploring for a day, Skellington picked up a bow and also picked up arrows. It took him some time to get used to the arrow shots but after practicing for a year, he master it and could even hit foes from a long distance. Skellington left the graveyard and started exploring through other levels of the clockworks. Currently, he is back in a graveyard and is waiting for something to do.
Personality: Smart, Patient, has a bad habit of warning foes by shooting an arrow and likes exploring and going on adventures.
Status: Declined
Reason: As nice it would be to see an undead roaming about, in the story as it stands an Undead is Swarm bait for it can take over your mind and body at will. Also, I don't want a creature from MINECRAFT in this RP. Ya I know what your referencing there, the mutated Skeleton.
((All: Like the new Application format?))
Thin, this is only my Steam account. My actual one is Pennzqwu, if you wish to discuss stuff in game.
Dark, any chance of the boss showing up soon?
There is for everyone on Depth 20. The Slag Deadnaught. I am waiting for you all to come a cross it. I will control it's actions so don't expect an easy fight. Yes, I will get very dirty about this one, lets see how crafty you all can be.
Just a reminder the Elevator is locked away behind a Gate that will only open when the Slag Deadnaught is dead. I know its kind of a small boss compared tot he things I could threw at you all but think about it like this, your all weakened, wounded, and some of you running on your last leg's. So this Deadnaught will be more then a challange, rushing in there trying to be a hero and or LoneWolf will result in a GAME OVER for this thing can easily kill the people in a weakened state.
The Challange will be this, Beat he Boss in Five Post's or less from me. If you can do that I might give you a bigger reward then just some extra crowns. Also, this means you have to work together, I will be judging your preforms as a team.
NO SHORT CUTING POST'S
Wait, so you mean the Deadnaught is not actually dead? Because it sounded pretty dead from that rocket head-on.
I am so bad at making apps, there is always a simple reason but it's just annoying. Reason: No boss, not enough detail, wrong race, video game character... Also, is there some valestone on the candlestick keep?
I wish people would read...
In the background the Slag Deadnaught stood before the Elevator, unphased in his room of Crowns and other golden Treasure's. As the rockets fell they hit all around him, it seemed it learned from watching that moving around was how to die again. With an angry hissing moan the Deadnaught gave out it's defend call to those in the Keep to come and fight it.
That was taken from the Post I made. Clearly your group has not made it the the Treasure Room of the Keep yet other wise you would have ran into this feller. Now take this into mind. It found out how inaccurate the Bombardment was from Emberlight and stood still to avoid becoming a pile of ash in the keep. This means its very much a live and waiting for you all. Deadnaughts are like Mini-Bosses unless I call one out pertucerly. This means I don't want any PC's saying they can just 'take one down' by themselives. It makes you seem more powerful then you really can be.
Now the Boss battle with this guy will happen when the whole group gets tot he Treasure Room, AKA the battle area.
Creeper: No.
only to be come a pile of ash by a random rocket
That implied that it died. Or am I just not seeing the obvious?
Wrong Deadnaught...That deadnaught was of the making of you Sandwich, Not the Slag Deadnaught I have in the backround waiting. Your looking at the surface of the problem here when you should have been looking at how it was worded. If its a regulor Deadnaught, its just that but your group will be fighting something stronger, a Slag Deadnaught. Keeping with the theme of the level at least :P
Also you should have head the underlying message in Post 131 of the Story Thread. I even say it there 'Slag Deadnaught'. Not just 'Deadnaught'.
Since nappy's a-waitin' should I have Jurak:
- Meet up with the survivors in candlestick keep
- Just move to Shadow lair
- meet up with Gwinevere
- Stay in Emberlight and remain a support
"A little talk on CYS?"
Pardon? Your meaning escapes me. Maybe we should discuss it in-game.
@Darkwatck: Where are "starting zones" discussed? Or perhaps I should ask, can you link me to the places where I can get the vital information needed to play?
