Cobalt reevaluated the situation. A fellow Machinaut, called out some team moral boosting words, and Cobalt decided to focus their efforts to take down the enemies. He adjusted his grip and charged at the Klepto.

((Shields regenerate health on every turn they don't take damage, much like in Spiral Knights. Loot is automatically collected whether you're downed or not.

You can use half your health to revive an ally with 0 HP, much like you used to be able to do in Spiral Knights; one Spark of Life is only used when there's a total party wipe.))

((Just skim through until you see your name or Machinaut somewhere, and read that block. That's what I did.

For your attack, say something like [Bottle Rocket Charge Attack: (target)]. The weapon charges for one turn, then attacks on the next.

EDIT: Can I recommend a battle theme for this fight?

Are we only gonna fight Clockworks mobs and Knights? Cuz I wanted to suggest Rogue Machinauts with faults in their programming. Kinda like the Mavericks from MMX.))

((As per Lady-of-War's suggestion, I'll be adding a simplified summary after calculations.

You may want to specify a target at the beginning of a Charge attack, in case you get lucky and Instacharge.

Also, Lady-of-War, you can move after launching a Bottle Rocket. It's kind of like Future Sight from Pokemon. Except it's a rocket.))

((Okay, clarification time!

-Future-Sight-Style attacks like the Bottle Rocket have a countdown in turns before causing damage. During this countdown, you can use another attack. However, you can't use another attack while charging.

-You can select a target for your Charge Attack on the turn it's fired. However, it's still advised to select a target on the turn you charge in case you get an Instacharge.

-Crown drops are currently decided by a 1d4 roll times a 1d6 roll for 0* foes.

-Moon Katana 10000 is a (ficticious) MMO dungeon-crawler where you play as a ninja. And yes, graphics are measured in Tiers on Cradle.

-I forgot to mention the second dead Klepto Whelp in the loot section. I'll get around to it, though! Don't worry.))

Satisfied with the progress of the battle, Cobalt continued attacking the same Klepto the boisterous Machinuat attacked. This was beginning to be child's play. Cobalt carefully tracked KV-103's movement, and followed through with an attack.

((Just realized I haven't been taking KV-103's Attack Speed Decrease into account. I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, the Proto Non-Shield basically cancels out the ASD.

@Hex: Finishers are like the Limit Breaks from the Final Fantasy series (the particular iteration I'm running off of is Bravely Default, which had their "Special Moves" tied to the user's weapon type). Once you get enough Finishing Move points, you can use a powerful attack at any time, draining the Finisher Points from all your weapons, but probably doing some serious damage.

Finisher Points are carried from battle to battle. Different Moves will eventually be available (for example, Cookware will eventually get the option to pick a healing move instead of "Crackling Bacon Grease" (Or as I like to call it: "More DOTs!" Come to think of it, there are many Whelps here...) while Broadswords can pick a tornado attack that hits multiple enemies, instead of "Blade of the Warrior Poet" which hits a single enemy.

Now, let's see here...))

"Hey, Nautilus, is that computer done lagging?"

"Sweet. Hey, do you hear something like... rockets going off? Because the lack of explosions in this room is getting boring."

Introduction

"Your mother should never had spawned you!!!" KV-103 dealt the final blow to the stunned klepto whelp before putting the duelist sword back into the armour. "Our foes are vanquished, the day is ours!" the fallen king cheered as it turned around, facing its fellow machinauts, "Many battles still await us! Let us not waste any time! To the far land!!!"

"And I'm Nalki!" a small Gremlin spoke, "One of the Torchbellow gremlins. I picked up a signal from one of those old comm arrays and came over here myself! So who are all you guys?"

Suddenly, responding to the vocie of the Gremlin, KV-103 voice and sense module shutted down and a audio record message was cued.

To whoever spoke in the language of the torchbellow, this is professor Gerallex. Once the greatest machine engineer of our clan... until the day when Obsidithax's army descended upon our land...

In front of you, is my finest creation and also my last, the KV-103 ultra heavy machinaut. The heaviest and the most well armoured of all machinauts, a predecessor of the UTS series. The KV series may be less flexible, but never out-classed when it comes to weight and the share armour it possessed. Only two KV-103 units were ever build, the 'fallen king' is the second of the twins... I dispatched its brother to hold off Obsidithax's attack... it won't last against the kind of fire power our enemies have...

By the time I recorded this, Obsidithax's men are already at the front entrance of my lab...

KV-103 unit 2 is nicknamed the 'fallen king' for a reason, I want him to rise from the ashes and take it upon itself to bring our clan back to its glory days. Obsidithax will pay for what he did... and KV-103 will be the key to that, I programmed him with a chivalric personality so he can protect the weak and take it upon himself to uphold honour and pride. I want him to experience what it is like to be a hero, a leader. An expriece I never had as a scientist hidden in a lab...

I have wipped out KV-103 unit 2's memories to protect him from the truth, if he asks for his creator. Please, tell him, that his father loved him very much...

It turned on his third eye and scanned the room. It sat down , and examined its hatchet.

" We will get more than this right ? "It suddenly staring nalki with a blank reaction.

Anyone could tell that D-07 is not so good with words by now.

Then he turned to nautilus and bowed , then awkwardly sat on the farthest posisition from the team

Then it sleeps..... an awkward peice of work indeed

"Whew. That's a lotta info to take in all at once." Nalki looks toward KV-103. "So you're a later model. Since your twin... well... Hey, wait, didn't Obsidithax show up a hundred years ago? Then how can Nautilus be your predecessor, if he's four hundred and seventeen..."

"Some details may have been mixed up. The land was under siege. I don't see why he'd be based on a nautical model, though..." Nautilus shrugged. "Stranger things have happened."

"And you. Hey, I bet you made this hole in this Klepto Whelp." Nalki pointed toward the Kleptolisk Mark killed. "Charge Attack, right? They're freaking awesome. This one time, I used a Charge Attack with this Proto Bomb to launch myself across a cliff. You shoulda seen the looks on those ugly Thaargan faces!"

"Stories can wait." Nautilus looked nervously at the wall; water was starting to drip out. "We should hurry and fix the leaked pipes."

"Yeah. But we need to get to the plumbing access..."

Nautilus pointed down the hall. "There is a staircase ahead that isn't destroyed. We can take it to the next floor."

Following Nalki and Nautilus, the party quickly makes it to the stairs, with no interruptions. Then, suddenly, a horde of Spookats phases through a weak wall!

"What the heck? Where did THEY come from?"

"Nalki, behind me. I will use the stairs as a chokepoint!"

Nautilus urges the rest of the party to follow behind him up the staircase, before stopping at the landing and raising his anchor. "My weapons are powerful enough to take this group of Spookats here. Check the landing for hostiles!"

At the top of the staircase, the party comes across a different sort of foe... it's a large humanoid in armor, with four large green arms sticking out of its sides and another from its... head? Its face is also positioned on its body.

Nalki gasps. "A Thaargan. They came from space, like the Knights on the other side of the planet... but these creeps never even opened communications. They're pirates. They just fire at everything in sight..."

The Thaargan smells your party, and lets out a loud roar, calling more Thaargan pirates. Then it grins, its teeth showing (along with five guns that quickly leave their holsters), and gives the party his honest assessment of their situation: "Little rats just fell in a trap!"

"Oh, no he didn't just call me 'rat'." Nalki arms a Proto Bomb. "Ohhh, he just made a BIG mistake."

Weird much!

immediately wary, Cobalt reached for his Frying Pan, before considering the small gremlin, Nalki's, words. If Nalki said charge attacks were more powerful, then that's what he'd use. Cobalt switched to his Static Flash and charged it up against the most dominant creature, knowing that the ensuing explosion would catch its comrades.

Best back story, ever

Kv-103 came back online after the audio is finished, it seems he was deactivated during the replay of the message and heard none of it. And suddenly, a group of unknown beasts appeared in its visor. something KV-103 has never seen before.

Hostiles detected

Enemy type, unknown, unable to find match within monster data bank.

Best course of action, normal attack. Proto sword selected.

"Stand back fiends!!!" KV-103 drew its proto sword and addressed the thaargans, "I know not who you wretches are! But surrender or face the wrath of the Fallen King!!!"

[Your gear has levelled up!

Heat is more versatile in this RP than in Spiral Knights proper. You can put each heat level into a variety of aspects.
For Weapons:
-DAMAGE increases the damage of the weapon, like in Spiral Knights.
-SPEED increases the Combo Speed, Rate of Fire, or Standard Arm Time by 1 point. You can only upgrade Speed once for each five Heat Levels.
-EASE OF USE makes the weapon easier to hit with, raising Accuracy by 1 point. You can only upgrade Ease of Use once for each five Heat Levels.
For Shields:
-HP increases the shield's Health.
-DEFENSES increases the shield's defenses.
-RESISTANCES works on some shields, raising the status resistance by 1 point. You can only upgrade Resistances once for each eight Heat Levels.
For Armor and Helms:
-DEFENSES increases the armor's defenses. This is all you can get on some armor.
-RESISTANCES works on some armor, raising the status resistance by 1 point. You can only upgrade Resistances once for each eight Heat Levels.

You also gain Charge Time Reduction: Low at heat level 5 and Charge Time Reduction: Medium at heat level 10 on all weapons. Heat Level benefits reset when a weapon is alchemized!]
