Updated...Changed the armor all together. Its mostly a costum makeup but hay its not the top level of said gear type but looks nice.
Clockwork Heroes RP [discussion][APPS CLOSED]
I like your thinking. Okay, I'll share what the next plot points are.
Cherub gathers everyone together and escorts them to a clearing that they can easily fortify and defend. Lots of escape pods landed nearby, so they help move them into position. They do all this while under heavy fire from constructs. Realizing that there will be no end to the fighting, they start thinking of ways to escape. They send someone into the Clockworks, and he/she returns claiming that it's a veritable fortress down there and a great place to escape to.
However, I just want to point out the very first level gives us an example of the surface; The Clockworks are still present- The same wacky structures are present, as in the easily defendable bridges and square floors- There are still rivers and plateaus, mountains and forests, and so on- In, and Out. Realistically speaking, if all the nature was on the surface, and all the clockworks were on the inside, the world would be about twice as big.
Defending from the inside is actually worse, as gremlins can come from above and below- and the only escape then would be through the gaping holes in Cradle between a few to tens of levels.
And the farther down you go...
The harder it gets.
That is, unless you're completely fine with disrespecting the sentient planet, and ripping apart a portion to make a bunker thing.
Well, enemies coming from the upper parts would have to glide/fly down to us, that would give us time to snipe them if we could acquire some sentries.
Enemies coming from below would have to fly up, and while Gremlims DO have airplanes, they would have a limited rate of troop deployment. Also, those can be sniped too.
As for them coming from the elevators, they can only carry so many at a time, and the entrances would be easy to watch over. Also, if Thin decides to take the older concept of Energy, using the elevator would cost the gremlims from above a lot of energy.
If the fortress was to be in the Aurora Isles or any other level that has a dome-like sky, both enemies from below and above would have to fit their aircrafts trough the holes in the dome structure, and that would make them easy to spot. And these domes could be surrounded by tunnels and pipes in the outside for all we know, so it could be even harder to slip something trough.
Hey, how about the fortress being in the Gloaming Wildwoods? Plenty of vegetation to hide from biplanes, the level has statues and concrete structures that suggest there might be some ruins we could settle down in, It appears to be in a dome for all I can tell and our chance to include Snarby in the story!
Also, while in the surface the Gremlins have an entire sky to fly their ships trough, the wildlife is surrounding us with nothing to hold them back, and during nightime our visibility goes down.
Whether or not going down costs energy, Elevators up are universally free- and thus pretty easy to get through defense.
How many suicide bombers would it take to break out defenses?
Not many.
And not only that, but this is the Gremlin's homeplanet.
They outnumber us by many.
That, and they also have tons and tons of controlled mechs too!
Although, we have done this once before...
If I remember correctly, Isorans took Isora from the Morai.
That would depend on where the location is. As it stands the surface is the safest of places, its a so-called, 'neutral' ground where the tech. is weakest and what saves you is not the power of a weapon but the brain power to use it and time it.
All in all its safer the higher you are. I am sure the spiral order has some cannons around for AA...of course thats assuming they have supplies at hand.
Also not sure where to start, trying to walk in blind and all...some one want to paraphrase a current standing?
@Liminori
Well, you're assuming that theyre realy hell-bent on taking us down, and will chase us even inside the Clockworks, which is supposed to be a maze. On the topic of outnumbering us, I havent played any Mount Grilchin or OCH missions, but swarming the enemy at the very beggining of T1 doesnt sound like Gremlim to me.
Also, I'm not so sure about this being their homeplanet... I'm not sure if this is anyone's planet. The whole concept of Cradle is that its an amalgamation of different worlds, with so many alternances that not even the Gremlins would be able to set down anywhere other than a few areas. On the other side, we didnt fare any better aside from the surface, but thats the challenge. The Gremlins arent the only threat, there's undeads, Linchen Colonies, Wolver Dens, Devilite facilities, etc. And we can easily assume those threats arent threats only to us.
@Darkwatchk Well, we just finished landing with our pods and getting out, you could start from that.
Since Amatia wasn't really in the main line I think it would be best to have him emerge some where outside of this combat zone. Or rather just outside it in a spot where it looks as if the pod was in a situation where it could have been ignored by the little skirmish going on. That would be wise enough and slowly have the swordsmen come into the fight of his own accord/pulled in.
A warrior doesn't just willingly throw his life away unless given a good reason.
Thin said that it was our job to create the world around us as we go.
It's not predetermined, but rather your choice entirely.
@Thin: The fact that I, out of some twisted spur of the moment, decided to look up images of necrosis last night, makes the imagery in your post all the more morbid and revolting. So GG.
Hey Spirals, you still there? Everyone's pushing the plot foward, but I kind of need you posting too so I can move on as well.
EDIT: Dark, "swordsmen" is the plural, what you want to say for your character alone is "swordsman".
Give him time man. I have Amartia drinking tea and smoking a pipe, I think waiting won't kill us.
Well, the scene I'm stuck in is a bit more action-y than drinking tea, ye know. And I need to know what Chael will do next.
No rush, but I dont think it will fit that much if everyone else gets to the elevators but we barely finished a fight.
Sorry, sorry, I should tell you before hand about this, but I Went for a vacation out town... again. Going to post now...
@Mag
Okay, so all of Cradle is built from piecing other worlds together in strati, right? If that's the case (and it certainly does, considering that it follows what in-game lore says), I really, really don't think something like soil is gonna be something manufactured, nor the trees...or wildlife. I mean, that's kinda pushing the limits of what the Gremlins can do technologically (I'll be frank here, when I mean "kinda" I mean that's pushing the envelope really really hard. So far, they're good at architecture and weaponry, but as for biological applications, they've only been able to breed Toxoils. Making 'artificial' soil, grass, and other wildlife is like saying they made the different strati all on their own, which I don't think follows what the lore says...).
Just an afterthought. I know we're supposed to creative with the world, but I wouldn't go running off assuming that the Gremlins built the Gloaming Wildwoods as opposed to...you know, just tearing that chunk of it right off and fitting it into the Clockworks.
(But if you want to keep that line, you can say it's a mistake made by your character...)
Um, I wasnt saying that the gremlins built that particular place, just that even the patches of grass they are standing on were placed there by something, likely whatever built this world.
Also, a few notes:
--Were not on the Gloaming Wildwoods, were on the Aurora Isles, wich judging by that giant dome that surrounds it in the background, is an artificialy built place.
--Mundy and Chael havent even met a Gremlim before, how would they know who to merit for the construction of the Isles?
--Who confirmed that the Gremlins dont know how to terraform? The Isles could easily have been Deconstruction Zones that got re-purposed, actualy I think the description of the Dec. Zones itself makes a premise that they at least know how to reshape a level.
So, I'm planning to head to the clearing within the next 10-20 hours, when I have time to write the scene down. Does this conflict with anyone's storyline?
uh, sorry, non-american english speaker is confused. You just hit a weak spot on my english vocabulary.
Clearing? I assume that means youre going up?
Oh, I meant that the clearing that WILL become the Rescue Camp in-game.
Clearing as in open area or field to be used for camping/settlement.
Meanwhile, it is uncertain whether or not I will post anytime soon.
Oh, ok. Another word for my mental dictionary then.
I wouldnt mind, It would be cool if we could meet up on the way tough. Maybe Aralon's depth is below Mundy's, and you show up on our level?
Wait I just had an idea. We (Chael and me) were just about to check an elevator platform, maybe you could surprise us and show up from there?
Dont try to force this in if you already structured your asccend, that was just a suggestion.
It would work for me considering the fact that Amaria is alone making his way through underbrush trying to find allies.
The many directions I could have Amaria go...I am thinking it would be wise to meet up with some one, however best to do it naturally.
I think it would be useful to have some sort of way to keep track of the location of every character, maybe even their personal goals and perhaps some sort of main objective that the plot is moving toward? I'm sure it would help make sure the story flows smoother, especially at this scale, though I do admit it would require a lot of work.
I'm sorry I've been gone so long... I'll try and catch up on the story if I can. And is it possible for me to rejoin? I could say that Filia simply crashed farther from all the other Knights or something
A001 - ZZ999 (Map limitations.)
THREE DIMENSIONAL MAPS WOO
I apologize for my long absence. I just wanted to get away from all online stuff for a while. Plus, I've been on a Fire Emblem: Awakening binge lately. I'm still quite enthusiastic about my plans for Serah (though my plans for Cherub have gone stale lately), so at least I'm still interested. xD
Feline-Grenadier, Magmaul-Ace, the next subplot I've got planned involves both your characters intimately. Serah's trials aren't over yet, and Aralon's are just beginning. Mundy is going to feel the after-effects of their trials. You guys up for it?
I've been playing a lot of 7th Dragon and Megaman ZX.
More of 7th Dragon, really.
You guys should check it out, and if you don't understand it, you could always use the english patch; which is pretty spot on.
Elt will be typing in the third person for the remainder of this post. Elt enjoys this immensely.
Elt is back now. He did mention he would be inactive for awhile and he is glad that the story has progressed since then and around the character of Jeptha Volta. Especially that Liminori realized the name overlap. He thought Liminori's character was stealing his name, an imposter. Elt thinks it's good to be back.
@Thin
Sure, but If I suddently go dark in the middle of it all, you'll know that my net connection backstabbed me. Again.
Thanks Dark, even though I read over my post, I still missed the one thing xD
ARMS not hands. Talk about awkward!
Uh, Dark, I'm pretty sure the correct saying is "swordsman". Correct me if I'm wrong, tough.
Its a semantic thing here. Swordsman saying it aloud doesn't quite sound as right as swordsmen, but then again swordsman is a singular tense there swordsmen is a multiple tense. I suppose I was/am using the word Swordsmen for a more flavor word then I am using it correctly. Then again this is what happens when you learn English in the Southeast USA xD (FLORIDA!!!)
Savoir is basically an obsolete french word for know.
The more you 'know'.
Savior, on the other hand; is someone/something that saves- In this case, Den's comlink.
Basically, Hex just said Den wrapped his hands around his know/ knowhow; Which I'll translate to knowledge; or fondled his head- not the comlink.
Heh.
For future purposes I should actually spend time typing the words rather than letting autocorrect choose obsolete words with no meaning xD
Thanks for being my safety net guys, haha!
No sence in beating yourself up about it, just carry on and strive to be better. After all Roam wasn't built in a day.
You mean that infamous first night, Thin?
We're gonna need a lot more bodies, but sure; I'm kinda bored doing nothing but status reports.
My character (Filia's) comms are screwed up ATM, so would she have heard Skyla's announcement about the maps and such?
Also, yes, I'm still in this RP. I'm just in the Philippines right now, and my internet is complete poop.
At the moment, I'd say that Filia might not have heard Skyla's announcement, but still recieve the map "Update" if you will, once her Comlink started working again.
Pardon me, but for now the next big plot is just to regroup right? Then make a camp?
Yes.
Also, if I'm not advancing the plot too fast, you certainly aren't.
...In fact, I kind of wish things would connect this smoothly in regards to the RP.
I think Lyra's part may have been a bit long-winded and sort of... Out of place.
Actually; I'd like some input on those parts from everyone else.
Off to megaman legends EY!
Amaria is currently wondering in the direction the all the commotion that was going on early. So as far as his direction is consern thats all he can get unless via comms.
Or perhaps we could start discussing here for what's going to be the next big plot point(s). And maybe how we want the story to flow.
Maybe we'll find out the Order didnt die and come back to it?
Maybe the Order DID die and we'll have to live deep inside the dangerous Clockworks, trying to coexist with the wildlife?
Maybe the Order is still out there, but we landed on the opposite side of the planet, where everything's different from what we see in the game?
We dont have to discuss the most detailed points, we just have to make a structure for the story. Then I agree, we should keep the game moving until something cool crops up. But it will be way easier for that cool thing to pop up if we (the writers) know what's the next step of events.
And that could also facilitate powerplay, but I dont see anyone in our RP that seems prone to that.
