I demand a refund on my eyes.
I was okay with them giving newbies a few accessories for their proto gear, but giving them three different eyes that were worth 50k when they were released? AND two of the height mods? Major buyer's remorse right there, lost 100k on my main account and missed out on crafting a new shield.
Sorry Three Rings but that was a dirty trick and you know it. Give all the knights that bought determined, happy and almond eyes and the height mods from vatel and the featured section a refund. Otherwise you're only going to make yourselves look like even bigger [cogs] than usual.

Releasing 5 items that are worth 50k each and then making them free in a few days is nothing but a punch to the face, a slap on the wrist, a stab in the back and a heaping pile of buyer's remorse. Ever notice that changing your color also costs 50k? But a proto can choose whatever color they want without the price upon creation. I think the main reason why it costs 50k is that you're making a -change- to your knight, not the selection itself. So like picking a color, it's free to select your eyes and height upon creation.
This is an aesthetic and with enough time and savings you can get it without having to compete in the AH or go through lockboxes. It's guaranteed, and it only takes time and patience. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think the implementation is rather fair. Because it's optional you can work for it, or just roll a new knight if it's bothering you that much.

We are supposed to pay for second change of your eyes/height/colour not for the very first one (while the new players have everything for free).
1st change (or the moment we choose it ) should be free.
Since all the times we had 1st free colour change on character creation screen. 2nd and next we have to pay. Its fair.
Now all new players have also 1st free height and eyes change free and for the 2nd and next they have to pay.
BUT all existing players have already had to pay for their first height and eye change that should happen during character creation (but it wasnt there yet).
Thats why all EXISTING, before new character creation screen, players who used height and eyes change should have 50k+50k refund OR what will be more game friendly they should get a ticket for a BOUND eye and heigh mod from vatel.

Yes, that is true, however, we DID have the chance to do that when we made our knights, but we did not have the chance to choose the other stuff, so we'd like to. :)

I agree that we should have access to the same character creation choices as newer players. It would be a good idea to bind the free modifiers to the recipient to prevent a glut- but given the frankly appalling monetization efforts I've seen lately*, free or reduced price modifier accessories would go a long way towards making old players feel like valued customers. Think of it as a gesture of good will.
* The straw that broke the camel's back: the arms appropriation mission offers 20% more prestige for a 4* weapon as a 3* weapon, which is dramatically out of line with the actual costs of item creation (2x the energy or more). (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/List_of_missions#Arms_Appropriation) Considering that you could get half the amount of prestige for 1/10th the energy on any other mission... well, let's just say that someone needs to do a better job of advocating gameplay value for energy. As well as advocating player satisfaction in general.

Times move on and new things come out. You can not expect to be given everything for free all the time. There has to be incentive for new players.
The items given are not that expensive or amazing. Height + eyes would come to 100k. If any of you have a reasonable amount of experience in this game, you would realise just how easy it is to make this. Maybe if you spent less time moaning on the forums and more time in the clockworks/ merchanting ?? The alternative would be to buy CE, most of you do this anyway, and it is hardly a huge amount...
A good majority of you also waste loads of money on useless things such as costumes. If 100k was that important to you.. you wouldn't.
Another way to look at it is....
This new player that gets a height and eye mod (which are useless), is coming into the game at a time where the prices are higher than when most of you joined. And if they wanted to buy something like Gen 1 regalia they are gonna have to fork out 10x what a lot of people paid. Same goes for a lot of the other events they will have missed because they joined the game too late. Maybe OOO should be rewarding older players constantly, or maybe, you should be able to support yourself and the game in itself and events is reward enough.
Sure a new player may like the eye and height mods, but they are not gonna help them in any way, same way they won't help you. Only difference is, a new player needs the help much more than you.
People get screwed over all the time, it is part of life and is unavoidable.
For example, I bought 4gb of (1600MHz, CL8) memory for £100 just under 2 years ago.
I can now buy twice as much for a quarter of the price. This is not the manufacturers fault and I am not complaining and demanding they give me a refund and sell me the product cheaper. This is just how it happens. You can't have everything your way.
Coming into the game now has it's advantages, but it also has a lot of disadvantages, I would say most of you were in a much better position when you started.

That I'm okay with, actually. People will be discouraged to do 3*, 4* and 5* appropriations, but those lower down the list will be able to make up for big prestige payouts of the higher ups with appropriations the lower ends are able to afford.
Up till now, my alt has not overtaken my main character in terms of prestige points, but the gap between the two has been consistent so far.
