The community that this manager is managing is not getting too happy. You still think this is not her job? Who is assuming too many things here?

Also, if you like to submit your will to OOO, be my guest. I believe consumers have rights and in this case, the decision to remove old RSS hampers that right and we are entitled to not only voice our opinions, but OOO needs to address the issue at hand.

Sigh

Seriously, why did you have to go the submit will/slave/mindless/sheep attack route? That's such a trite way of trying to tell someone you disagree with that their opinion isn't as valid as yours.

You are certainly entitled to voice your opinions but Three Rings doesn't have to do anything about it. The community is never happy about everything. Should Eury be in here discussing the rising cost of CE every week with us? There have certainly been more complaints for longer about that topic than this one.

Community Manager is another word for babysitter. She makes sure we don't get too far out of line, she doesn't give us all the things we want. She answers questions she feels needs to be answer, and I think that's the key part. They don't think they need to answer us on this issue, regardless of how much some people feel otherwise. Three Rings already gave us some answers as to why they wanted the bomb changed and apologized in advance months ago and people are still asking for those two exact same things.

I think we can ask for a better apology...

Think. Your friend walks up to you and punches you in face as hard as he can, breaking your nose. Then he simply says, "Oh, sorry", and walks away casually. Would you forgive him?

It's a good thing Three Rings

It's a good thing Three Rings isn't my friend and hasn't actually punched me in the face or broken my nose, then. If you're trying to use that as an analogy, then no, not even close. I could make random analogies for perceived wrongs too if I cared to, that doesn't validate them. I get that you're upset about some changes but stick to actually making valid points and discussion instead of likening "what this feels like" to you.

Yes, and that is a good example of what to suggest. Contrast that to suggestions for bringing back the old bomb or comparisons people make to swords and guns, both of which contradict Three Ring's intentions behind changing the bombs.

Also just because Three Rings doesn't respond doesn't mean they're ignoring you. They don't respond to most suggestions and/or bug reports, but they likely read everything. The list of things to do is mighty.

Edit: To clarify: I have nothing against petitions or even asking for the old bomb back, provided in the latter case they don't just outright ignore or try to twist things Three Rings has said in the past about it. This whole daily bumping just to try to fish a response out of a Dev is something else entirely though. Petitions are to get your voice to them. This is good. Shouting regularly that they should spend development time giving you the answer you want to the specific thing you care about of all the things they have to deal with, I don't think this is so good. They're fully aware of our positions by now. Trying to harass, annoy, and/or threaten them regularly serves no constructive purpose.

OOO moved the thread to the suggestions sub-forum for that reason, so people would think they didn't need to respond. I for one, think that a response is a perfectly reasonable thing to ask for. I highly doubt they'll give the answer I want, but so far, they haven't given any answers yet. They haven't even openly acknowledged the fact that they rushed to release a bugged bomb. Even with the testing community telling them so.

Yes, it is perfectly fine to ask for a response. This has gotten so far beyond merely asking though. You can ask for a response but they don't need to give you one. A lot of people seem to think differently.

Sometimes...

I wonder how much Nick can do. Remember the OCH? Minutes after the release notice aired, he said you could buy OCH with CE. That's right, he said CE. Then that was a mistake and he changed it to a dollar amount. That really ticked people off.

So my point is, I wonder if Nick could do anything about it. I wonder if he thought (and wanted it) to be with CE, and to not change the shard bomb, but they did it anyway. And somehow he was assigned to tell us so he would take the blame? Possible? Impossible? Plausible?

Nick is the lead developer, which means of course he would be the one to report to us the new releases. But that doesn't mean he is the one doing everything, and the people who blame Nick shouldn't even be talking if they think that he's the only one doing the work. Hence why I say "Dev team" rather than Nick, because I know there are other hard working developers besides Nick.

And if I'm wrong about this I bet Nick is sitting down in a leather rolling chair laughing evilly while petting a cat on his lap.

16 Days..............

So, I drive a car affectionately known as a land yacht.
The other day I went out to get in it.
And it had turned into a paddle boat.
So I went to the car company forums to find out what happened.
Turns out, it wasn't enough like a yacht, so they got rid of the wheels and replaced them with paddles.
But that is ok, because they were going to compensate me for it.
When I went to the mailbox, my breath was baited as I opened the door to find..........
A ticket for 3 random boat upgrades.
Could be blinky lights, or could be a better motor.
Either way, I was going to have to stand on the street corner and shout a lot until a rich player rolled by to take this useless ticket off my hands.
And to add insult to injury, a bunch of people that never drove my kind of car went and made a bunch of tiny models of my car and got tons of 1 random upgrades.

They should at least answer

They should at least answer what AoE have to do with shooting to be placed in the same classifying category.... If he want all bombs to do AoE, then all guns should only hit a single enemy to have some logic.

Has nothing to do with his definition of AoE

And everything to do with buying a product, only to have that product retroactively changed and made useless without any real compensation.

Best offer I have been able to muster for a 3 UV Ticket is right around 150k.

That is nowhere near the crown amount for crafting/heating/UV'ing a 5* bomb from scratch.

We crafted a bomb specifically because of the type of damage it dealt.
We no longer have a bomb that deals the damage we paid for.

Plain and simple.
The new bombs are nice, but they are not the bomb we paid for.

Well, the bomb was taken away

Well, the bomb was taken away because of his definition of "all bombs must do AoE" so yeah, it have everything to do with it. Aside from proving that his logic is flawed and thus getting the bomb back (almost no chance, since the devs don't even care to post something here aside from a few "yeah we are doing something, now wait"), the only thing that you can do is ask for a replacement (your RSS for a Heavy Crystal bomb if all you want is an elemental bomb) which I highly doubt that they will do either.

Just putting this out here:

To the people who feel like you're "owed" something out of this, I'd like to remind you all that the Terms of Service (which we all agreed to when we signed up to play) includes the following:

"Further, Three Rings reserves the right to terminate the Site, Services and/or Games, or any part thereof, at any time without notice and without further obligation to you. IN NO EVENT SHALL YOU BE ENTITLED TO A REFUND OF ANY FEES OR PRORATION THEREOF."

This is a standard (and very wise) clause that you're likely to find in nearly all online games and many online non-game services. Without it, even the tiniest change can open the "I didn't pay for this" can of worms, and by extension a ton of messy litigation.

I'm as upset as the next knight about the removal of the old RSS and would love to have it (or at least a suitable set of replacements, but that's for a different thread) back, so I support this petition. But keep in mind that no matter how many words or how much money we throw at the captain, we still don't steer his ship.

I don't have the exact numbers, but DCB does more damage to zombies than DBB if you don't count the time difference between the bombs, and this is also assuming you manage to get 2 shards to hit a zombie. DCB does have a nasty habit of knocking zombies around erratically which may be detrimental to your teammates, and it also has that blind spot in the centre should a zombie decide to bunny hop at you past the secondary shards.

In short, preferably use DBB if you're in a party, and use DCB when you're alone.

I turned off the shadow copy

I turned off the shadow copy from the general discussion and ask that you leave it so. The reason for this is because this thread belongs in the suggestions section of the forums. When we move a thread from one section to another, we leave the shadow copy up for a bit, so that people active in the thread will know that it has been moved. We now assume you know where to find this discussion, so having a link in the general discussion list isn't necessary anymore.

I was not trying to hide or sweep this discussion under the carpet, simply a bit of regular forum maintenance and organization.

One further note: Yes, we have seen your threads and the developers are aware of your thoughts. As has been mentioned, there are many of us who read the forums regularly and collect information for the developers. We appreciate the feedback and hope you will continue with constructive discussion.

Hello Aphrodite,

Your logic, as much other ooo logic of late, is flawed.

This thread has moved far beyond a suggestion to bring back the RSS.

There are many questions contained within that need to be answered by ooo.

Ignoring your PAYING customer base is the worst decision.

Shoving these questions into a barely viewed Forum thread is a bad decision.

Further, there are many new signatories to the petition that would never have known this thread existed if it were not for the shadow copy.

You would deny these customers their voice?

Are the Moderators tired of seeing this thread at the top of General Discusssion?

The easy fix for that is to answer the questions posed by the customers.

re: compensation

"... everything to do with buying a product, only to have that product retroactively changed and made useless without any real compensation.

Best offer I have been able to muster for a 3 UV Ticket is right around 150k.

That is nowhere near the crown amount for crafting/heating/UV'ing a 5* bomb from scratch."

This statement started to bother me as soon as I saw it, so I went and did some fact checking and some math, and I've come to the opinion that you were pretty well compensated, actually.

First off, you were compensated for a 4* bomb, not a 5* bomb. (Really, thinking about it, this is probably yet another reason these bombs were changed; having a 4* item as good as a 5* isn't good for balance.) So calculating the cost compared to making a 5* item isn't fair on OOO, because that's not how much you initially paid. Instead, we've got to compare it to making a 4* item.

Now for math:
To make a 4* item from scratch, you're going to need recipes, crowns, energy, materials, and a bit of heat. the old RSS line started at 2* if I'm not mistaken, so we start there.

Recipe costs-
2*: 1,000 CR
3*: 4,000 CR
4*: 10,000 CR
Current total: 15,000 CR

Crown costs in crafting-
2*: 400 CR
3*: 1,000 CR
4*: 2,500 CR
Current total: 3,900 CR + 15,000 CR = 18,900 CR

Energy costs in crafting-
2* 50 CE
3* 200 CE
4* 400 CE
Current total: 18,900 CR & 650 CE.
Or, if you craft smart and use as much mist energy as possible for every craft: 18,900 CR & 400 CE

Now, I didn't feel like looking up and calculating the exact material costs, (Though let's be honest, it's not like materials are hard to get unless we're talking Shadow Lair materials.) so instead I'm just gonna treat the CE cost as if it's 10,000 CR per 100 CE instead of the 8,500~ CR per 100 CE that it's been hanging around currently. That should be more than enough to compensate the material cost. I'm not calculating heat either, because you only need five levels of it on a 3* item for this craft, and that's extremely easy to get for free using mist energy.

When using that number for CE, we end up with 83,900 CR/58,900 CR for the 4* item. You were given an item worth 225,000 CR, and still kept your 4* item too, as useless as it may arguably be. Even selling that ticket for only 150,000 CR is still a damn good deal in my opinion.

Shardy... I miss thee

I am bomber... Even tho my steam char is still 0*, my kongregate is 5* bomber. I enjoyed using RSS as my dps weapon and I was shocked when I logged in from my long hiatus and noticed they had changed it. Losing its projectile attribute and elemental damage, I was depressed. But the new attributes it has are nice. It more like regular bomb now, bit different the way it blows, sents 8 "smaller" bombs those blow up also. It has been changed bit but it is still my crowd control weapon. And we got something in compensation, shadow bombs for FTP players. I miss old shard bombs, but I welcome the new ones happily. But I will never forget my old RSS...

You're not taking into account the people who spent loads more on rolling decent UVs on their RSS. Granted, not everyone spent bucketloads on rolling for either CTR or Undead bonus UVs, and it's hard to check who spent how much on UV rolling. The vocal people who are against this bomb change tend to be the ones who did spend a bomb on UV rolling, and being recompensated just a measly 150k while other non-bombers abuse the compensating system and get way more while spending way less is more than enough to tick them off.

On the nose.

Thanks Gris.

@Firock
You are right that RSS is just a 4*, and your calculations are correct, except......
I uv'd the heck out of my RSS.
UV's that are now rendered fairly useless without Elemental damage.
The removal of Elemental damage is what irks me the most about my new RSS.
The inclusion of a known bugged status, is also a point of contention.
Mechanics that don't function properly are a bit frustrating as well.
Damage levels that are not on par with other weapons might also be a bit disappointing.
But I digress.......

The utter, sanctioned, abuse of the compensation scheme is what has me most incensed.

I have a job, which allows me to periodically spend real dollars on SK.
That job keeps me from playing during work hours.
A whole lot of players who happened to be online when the update and compensation was announced had the opportunity to abuse the heck out of a compensation scheme that was supposed to be for those that were losing something they had paid for on several levels.
For me, that greatly minimized the value of the compensation.
Whooo! I got a 3UV ticket for my RSS.
While that guy over there got hundreds of 1 UV tickets after never having used any bombs before the announcement.
Seems a bit unfair.

Still waiting for answers from ooo.

Moving on........

I have moved well past ever expecting the RSS to make a return in it's original glory.
My real concern lay in 3 areas.
First, the rush to market of a flawed item. (stun and disappearing shards).
Second, the removal of Elemental damage from an item that was purchased for it's Elemental damage.
Third, the heavily abused compensation scheme, and the diminishing of the compensation to actual users of the bombs by the abusers.

And no it is not a threat to close the wallet until these issues are addressed, it is the only power available to the consumer.
