((For charge attacks, basically you have to wait a turn before you can use it. So for instance, I use a charge attack, then I have to wait until the next turn so I can attack.))

The weird enemies are because... long story. Mardrux (a high-ranking Devilite and the main bad guy of this current story arc) is running an MMORPG that creates a "Cyber Zone" where the MMORPG affects reality, and is using the Cyber Zone to, without the players' knowledge, do bad things. The Machinauts are here to help the Geonids (gem creatures found on Depth 6) by reclaiming something Mardrux took: a piece of their Heartstone, which Mardrux is trying to use to brainwash the Geonids. There's a little more to it but that's the basic gist of it all.

tl;dr: Mardrux is a bad guy, get the shiny crystal back.

Thrynn blinked a few times, before idly scraping a bit of rust off of the pan.
"...My only question: Who are all of you people? I just got rudely awoken, and given the directive to help the other Machinauts."
Thrynn traced his finger around the pan in a slow circle.
"As far as I can tell, none of you are out to get me, but beyond that, I know nothing. Mard? Mardrux? I don't know these names, and it's evident that the others aren't familiar with Mard, but they think it's Mardrux."
Thrynn paused for a second, before continuing.
"The only reason I'm here is that it's my only lead; The rest of what I should know is blank. Although I do obviously know how to fight.
So, once more... Who are all you? I'm..."
Thrynn paused, and looked at himself.
On his wrist was some words painted on, and scratched so certain parts were practically unreadable.
What could be read was "Thrynn, G-54." which Thrynn read out loud for everyone.

I and a few other machinauts were reawaken a few days ago and we were combined to form a strike force and have since then put down some of the most deadly threats the clockwork has to offer to our very survival."

The sound of Mass Heal

The sound of Mass Heal brought Matikclocker X back to operation.
"Mhhmhmmm... who restored me?"
Then he saw Polygon Sage healing him and restoring to his operational state.
"Well, I missed a lot of battle, but at least I recovered from my demise." said Matikclocker X.

Then he turned to Thrynn G-54.

"I thought this will be EPIC, but looks like this battle must be forgotten." said Matikclocker.

DELETING FILE... PolygonBattle.mp4... DELETED.

"Anyways, welcome to the squad Thrynn G-54, I am Matikclocker, a very destructive robot that is fragile but can respawn. Thank you for helping us, if you didn't come then we would be doomed. Also, we need to teach R8-368 "Royal" more about our world."

Matikclocker walked to Royal.

"Looks like your hard drive suffered from artillery shot and landing, shortly - damaged. We need to teach you the basics and history. Well, these Machinauts were reactivated to serve for Torchbellow Clan. Many other Machinauts joined us in various wacky ways. I, for example exploded a ceiling with dynamite and Devilites were after me. BETA joined us also, but I don't know how."

Then he whispered to Royal, "We are actually at a little war because he scared me off and I wanted to calm him down."

"Nano2Nano was hidden behind our squad. Nalki noticed him. Thrynn was reactivated by liberated Mecha Knights after our Multibox battle. You've been delivered here by artillery shot and the landing shocked your HDD so you forgot what to do. Don't worry, you will learn in later run."

Matikclocker proceeded to Fallen King.

"Thrynn G-54 is unstable? Tell me what's Xenos Technology."

D-07 noticed that its new comrade has to gaze at his arm to know of his name.

Strange, Why would a machinaut forget its own model number?

However his attention is quickly scooped away to the polygon sage. He seems to have a good idea what Mardux is plotting and why. "Yeah I got one. How does he manage to force us into this.. Cyber Space.. in the first time?" It sheated the shamshir. The old trusty default coil sure helps.

"I'm D-07, or Ditto if you prefer. May I ask something? How did you lose your 'memory'? The machinaut quickly told all the details.

Thrynn felt good about helping the machinauts, but everything still felt off. Introduction or no, strangers are strangers.
Ditto introduced himself, and asked, "How did you lose your 'memory'? If we have a biological brain that will still make sense, however with our implanted storage system, the only way for it to happen is either by deletion or corruption."
"How?"
Thrynn shook his head.
"What kind of question is that? If I knew how, I'd probably be gunning for whatever caused it!" Thrynn exclaimed, flailing his arms upward, and then pausing for a second to think.
"Well, There's also the possiblility that certain memories are repressed or hidden behind ciphers, or that it was wiped from me. Simply put, I have no knowledge of any events that may or may not have occurred before I was linked up, or, heck, rebooted depending on what happened. I doubt that this is my first time being powered on, because I was found."
Thrynn lowers his head as if to stare at the ground, deep in thought.

(Thrynn knows about as much as a brainwashed soldier: Not much else outside combat, for now.)

The Sage first turns to KV-103. "Mard and Mardrux are the same being. Mardrux deceived my friends into, ironically enough, defending my prison- though they did not know this. They were told that you were setting out to destroy our world, but I can see this is not the case."

The Sage then answers DSN-001. "The force field is, indeed, gone. It is to the north. I see the crystal creatures- ahem, what were they called? Geonids- have already provided you with some manner of navigating to it. The path will be easy for you to travel, for the Cyber Zone- Mardrux's corruption of Cyberspace- holds no power over your plane any longer." The Sage lets out a sigh. "Unfortunately, the Zone still exists, and I feel Mardrux has an insidious and sinister purpose for it..."

The Sage turned toward Thrynn. "I have little knowledge of your world's fighting beyond that involving Mardrux. What I know has already been stated by the armored swordsman."

Then the Sage answered D-07's question. "Cyberspace is my home world, and reflects the state of your own technological networks. Mardrux joined our worlds using his foul magic and someone else's creative work, but could not directly affect your world with it until he stole my energy. He used my power to force the effects of the Cyber Zone on his victims. Worse still, he keyed it to... a DNA strand of some kind. The effect annihilated the Geonids on this floor. And even now, I could tell he was readying to do something still worse."

The Sage stares off into the distance. "The DNA strand he has is connected to these Geonids. I have seen something of Mardrux's plot. He plans to control them all like puppets, and use them for his nefarious purposes... but you have the perfect chance to turn the tide against him." The Sage lowers his... head? "I also have detected another presence, not affiliated with Mardrux. All I can tell is that it's malevolent, and fiercely so... but distant. It is highly unlikely to attack you while you fight Mardrux... but be very, very wary."

"Mardrux is twenty minutes' marching from your position. I do not know the nature of this strand; however, your compass points toward it."

The Sage scratches his "head" for a moment. "I must return to Cyberspace soon- there is another Devilite plot that needs thwarting, far from here. But... hmm. Before I leave... there is one more thing I can do with my power."

The Sage then lifts a nontextured staff toward the sky... and a flight of virtual silver-scaled dragons enters through a portal! "Ha ha! All it took was a simple manipulation of graphics and code... you now have access to a flying mount that can carry you across the Cyber Zone. They haven't implemented these in the game yet, so I suppose this could be called 'cheating'... but then, there are more important things to worry about right now. The dragons cannot fight, but they will be useful for travel."

The Sage turns to leave. "Fare thee well, brave ones." The Sage vanishes into Cyberspace where he came from.

There's nothing left to do but cross the Cyber Zone, as the crow (or, well, the dragon) flies, directly to Mardrux's lair, and end this madness.

Without much further delay, the dragon takes you into the sky, flying over the glitched wall and into the main game world, and then making a beeline for Mardrux's lair.

Before long, you begin to spot a series of... player-owned siege engines?! Are they going to fire at you? No, they're aiming at something else...

And it's glitching in strange ways, unleashing blasts of fire shaped in alien geometries with a checkered "glitch" texture, and removing any entities in its path. Not just wiping out their hitpoints, either; the affected player characters can be seen respawning with no items at level 1.

Mardrux must have shown his true colors while you were away. The beast aims one of its four heads at your mount, and prepares to let loose a torrent of foulness that would surely consume-

Ha, nope! It's way too easy to just log out of the Cyber Zone. Safe from... whatever that THING was, you land right outside what appears to be a cross between a sinister temple of doom and a disheveled IT office. Here, Mardrux is surely performing some unspeakable act of-

No, wait, he's on the phone. "Yes, I know, Gar'imord. Yes. Yes. Well, of course not! That's not the point of- you shortsighted fool! Do you know just what the Polyboros will do? Do you have any ide- HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE REPORTS?! Gahh, you're hopeless. You know what? You can't fire me, I-"

Mardrux turns to face you as you enter, and his eyes narrow. "One second. I have something to deal with." Mardrux shuts off some kind of cell phone, then turns toward you, brandishing four electrical lashes with... hands?... on the ends. "Pah. You took your time showing up. Polyboros is already wreaking havoc on this worthless heap of Gremlin code- I've wanted to see this kind of destruction for weeks!- and through the Heartstone shard, it'll wreak havoc on the rest of your worthless creation as well!"

You spy the Heartstone shard, surrounded by a barrier atop some kind of colossal... computer? It's a machine, but covered in fiendish gems and glyphs... obviously going to take way too long to break manually. But in front of the computer is a keyboard, adorned with four extra keys. Each of the keys has... oh, come on, Mardrux, what if an employee doesn't SPEAK Fiendish?

In his usual patronizing tone, Mardrux continues, "In case you don't understand, the giant beast that even those as stupid as you could notice is called Polyboros! Before you lies its core, which is going to use that Heartstone to secure my dominion of all Cradle. Once the Core is able to control the Heartstone, I'll be able to move those Geonids around like the Mecha Knight drones that are confounding my feeble-minded coworkers. What would follow is, of course, obvious. I'll be generous and not spoil it for you."

"Ah, but you won't get to see it. I'll throw you all into the trash heaps you came from, and become overlord of all Cradle!"

With that, Mardrux begins his attack! Polyboros is close enough for you to attack from the Cyber Zone, but you'd best not stick around; its breath weapon is dangerous. Your onboard CPU can pick up the beginning of a deactivation code, which seems connected to the four strange keys on the keyboard's core. They're labelled "Nok", "Sol", "Tor" and "Ur"; if you can clear Mardrux's Hands, it'll be easy enough to push those keys.

But how to find the rest of the code? The firewall seems unstable. Damage to the heads might weaken the firewall, and reveal more of the code.

Zone Switching active!

(Yep, the big end fight of Chapter 2. Think very carefully about this one. There's a certain way you can fight this battle that'll make it quicker. Make sure you keep an eye on what attack does what, and remember that, if a Polyboros Head is preparing to attack (or attacking) a Machinaut, the siege engines will get to fire more shots that turn.

@Thrynn/Royal (and everyone else who forgot): You can choose to switch between the Cyber and Real Zones each turn; enemies in the Cyber Zone cannot attack into or be attacked from the Real Zone, and vice versa.)

((I'd normally edit the post here, but, well, it's too long and someone might miss this.

Here's a more thorough explanation of how the Polyboros Control works.

During your turn, you can choose to have your Machinaut press the keys on the Polyboros Control to try and enter the five-digit disable codes. If the Machinaut is not stopped by one of the Hands of Mardrux (25% chance per living Hand) the Machinaut will be able to freely enter whatever five-digit disable code you choose.

The keys are labelled with Tortodrone Event fiendish glyphs Nok, Sol, Tor, and Ur. Each head has its disable code shown next to it, but with one catch; it's behind an unstable firewall. Damaging the heads reveals letters in the code.

A correct disable code may repeat a letter. Entering a correct code disables the corresponding head, dropping its HP to 0. An incorrect code may still provoke a reaction.

I'll record combinations you've already tried, and the reactions to the code, in a Google Doc. A link will be added to the next post, just under "Polyboros Control" in the enemies section, and I'll post a link here as well.

((Well, I hate to say it right as the big fight is beginning, but I'm afraid we'll have a delay due to unexpected things. I'll see you all tomorrow!

If you are confused about anything, I'll have a fair share of spare time tomorrow to explain it all.
