I'm pretty sure EVERYONE that's been to FSC (myself included) at least once has seen that thing.
10 things you didn't know about Spiral Knights
It's something everyone sees everyday - it's either in Haven, or on the login/character selection screen. Not the clockworks, especially not something as specific as a tier, let alone a depth.
Or maybe we need to think outside the game. It could be on the launcher/patcher?
EDIT:
On the login screen...
Cradle has two groups of lit areas that make the planet look like a face. The moon stays in a fixed position and does not orbit Cradle. There's a few rings of small particles rotating around Cradle. The planet itself shifts around... or is it the camera? The camera may be an escape pod, some observer of the planet from space, some hint of future events?
I think I'm thinking TOO far outside the box.
Nick pls, hints pls
Hey people in the time of the OP thelogin screen was not the one we actually know NOW.
Hey people in the time of the OP thelogin screen was not the one we actually know NOW.
In the OP's time, there was no mission interface so people would have to go to Arcade to dive into the Clockworks. If you go to the Arcade and look under the strata towers, you can see the party lobbies. The secret could be "party lobbies are in Arcade", but well, pretty sure I am not the first one to discover this.
Hardly anyone would notice debris of the legendary Skylark in parts of the LOGIN SCREEN. (Something the players see every day.) Or the water fountain in Haven, and water is found no where else and where does the water in the Clockworks come from? Curious....
omg you guys are forgetting that there is water in the initial tutorial area!!! and theres water in the Royal Jelly Palace. So i do not agree with the fountain idea.
edit: also anyone ever wondered where energy actually comes from??? all we do is use it, spend it on stuff in the depot. Even pre-patch energy was only being used. Yeah we generated mist but wheres the Crystal Energy from??? I haven't noticed any kind of energy well or generator, other than the core of course, but we can't possibly be getting it from there because we can't get to the core.
ce is extracted from crystal caves (it still does, right nick?) from the strangers, which sell them directly to players via IRL. wait, how does the money go at the strangers?
we have never been told anything about these supposed crystal caves. (though they might be a cool level design, *hinthint* nick, future event maybe and explanation for CE)
"energy can be stored safely in large amounts in a knight's reserve tank because it does not decay. The Strangers that run Haven mine areas of the Clockworks for it. Like everything in their possession, it is available for sale."
source: wiki, page energy.
That the gate icons in the Arcade resemble Chess pieces and mythological beings/entities/creatures?
Maybe number 10 is that... THREE RINGS IS TAKING OUR MONEY! Nah that's too obvious... Maybe they're taking our money and making the game better in a way we can't see it!
How about the fact that our knights are robots, but if you watch them on the selection screen, they are clearly taking breaths. Even the team at the core complain about the lack of oxygen, and The Apocrea's soul-stealing gaze has a clear effect on the knights? That's a bit of a mystery.
@Forteds
It's actually heavily implied that knights are organic. There is a wiki page on this.
My memory may be failing me here, but I thought in earlier versions, Cradle was full of energy in the air (Used to be mist energy), and the knights were designed to absorb and run off that energy, while also collecting some in the mist tank. There are no burger joints or recharge stations in Cradle.
The mist is absorbed in their ARMOR'S reserve tanks. Not their bodies.
how do we get to townsquare after every mission when there is no elevator in townsquare?
The spawn point in town square, the entrance to haven, is a large elevator itself. That's my theory of how we get up.
Perhaps the secret had to do with the name "Spiral Knights" itself?
Great. It's 12:20am and my brain is working in overdrive. Someone else speculate over this while I sleep.
there is a sword in spiral knights name :o *mindblow*
I've been sitting on this one for quite a long time. Not sure if anyone else has pondered it (I believe I've read all the pages and I don't think I've seen anyone mention it though)
The Forums, or on a broader scale, the website itself. There's quite a few interesting things around the place. Look at the backgrounds and stuff.
I think i know it.
Every day we all see the clockworks, right?
what if the clockworks are like one of those old watches with a WIND UP SPIRAL SHAPED SPRING???
so what's the windup spring? and what winds it?
PS: could also explain the "spiral" in spiral knights
We are Spiral Knights because we are knights of the Spiral Order.
And also, who says we go to Haven everyday? Sometimes we just sit in the ready room and guild chat or wait to play in the Coliseum.
And we don't always go to the Clockworks. Some people are really rich, so rich they don't even need to farm. Heck, sometimes we don't even visit the Ready Room, we just check our energy or something. And they changed the login screen, so they probably would've said something about it. Did they change the place that lines up our 3 avatars? If it wasn't changed ( I don't remember ) then that might be it. If not, it most definitely has something to do with our knights.
I know what it is. Look at the background of the login screen. THERE IS A MOOOOOOOON!!!!
We don't see the moon everyday.
Apparently you didn't read anything about the storyline at the beginning of the game, clueless fellow without an avatar.
Does it have to do something with the CORE or with the random like people dooing like fixing the round look of the background (sky at some lvl's)....sometimes at the backround you can see a missing parts like Hexagon usualy 4 or 5....
oh hai this thread has arisen again.
nick said it's something way bigger than random gremlins fixing the background.
and something to do with the core like?
^ How exciting! But what's inside?
It will remain open for 9 seconds.
...
The number nine door has closed.
This ends the Nonary Game.
Thank you for your participation
As the game is over, all doors other than the number nine door have been unlocked.
Escape is not possible.
Please enjoy your stay.
the fact we have no skinjust black stuff, our eyes glow, 2009-201 players got the good names, cradle ISN`T shaped like one, gremlins no like me, alchemy machienes r magical, this game has magic for being a non-magic game even though we cant use it.
~{Frozane}~
the fact we have no skinjust black stuff
We do have skin, and where's this black stuff you speak of?
our eyes glow
How is that a secret that no-one has noticed?
cradle ISN`T shaped like one
Canis Majoris isn't shaped like a dog
The planet Mercury isn't made out of hydrargyrum
Venus isn't an ethereal deity of love and beauty
The Milky Way does not consist primarily of dairy products
this game has magic for being a non-magic game
If it has magic, then how is it a non-magic game?
It's either a non-magic game, and doesn't have magic in it, or it's a magic game with magic in it.
What you said makes as much sense as explosive underpants.
Bringing up magic is better than saying that the secret is in the ready room for the Nth time.
Doesnt it seem weird we see the Clockworks everyday when we log in? I discovered this after playing for sooooo long. Spiral Knights resembles alot of greek mythology. King Tinkizar is basically daedalus, and the author of the Shadow lair echos is icarus. Tinkizar made the clockworks so that means...
THE CLOCKWORKS IS A SYMBOL FOR THE LABYRINTH!!
provide proof that Thinkinzar made the clockworks, then we'll talk.
as far as we know, the architect could be someone else.
So i take it because Nick has Left OOO's that we're never going to find out about this secret? I hope the other GM's at least give us a hint or something. I'd really like to know what it is.
Even if its just some sort of reference to a real life event or something, it would still be cool to know about.
Nick teases us that there is a secret that all players see everyday but none realised yet then leaves without saying what this effing secret is :(
Cruel I say! Cruel!
The new lead designer should rectify this (or anyone in inside OOO who's in the know).
Pretty please with cherry on top??
But I can't tell you because it wouldn't be a mystery!
AHAHAHAHAH!!!!
All the more suspicious things that I found and I know that we all see every day, I found these:
The monitors began when the account(with parts of username and password)
screen with some landscape
our "capsule" that we use to come to this world
a large tube and a symbol on the floor
Would #10 maybe be the fact that the weighted statues look like it has animal like ears (and wich animals do we know have pointy ears like that in this game), the same eye we use for the curse effect, with a weapon from the troika line.....
nah, not everyone sees the statues every day....
@Vyktor-Kun: Nick never said that it was something everyone sees everyday. Just that players see it everyday. That means that it is seen everyday by more than one player.
Most of those aren't actually possible, as they were added a long while after Nick posted this thread and weren't around at the time.
What if the statues are actually permanently petrified remains of kats, margrel caused the kataclysm but as far as i know there isnt much details around about what happened after he opened the book that caused the destruction of the two tribes
However, cats are immune to curse status, this would explain their immunity, if they were petrified and are now just ghosts, some have faced the facts but most kats who were consumed by anger and hatred are now simply wandering ghouls seeking revenge on margrel, that would mean theyre already cursed, wouldnt it
That would again be a good explanation to why margrel appears when you give the konjuring kat the book, he is trying to break the curse and either a) margrel comes to stop him and destroys the book as a way of making sure they dont come back for fear of what would happen to him or b) the curse also takes away his control of his body.... ectoplasm.... puding.... whatever theyre made of.... forcing him to stop anyone from breaking the curse
Sidenote: after re-reading this it sounds like the drunkest bs ive ever saw anyone make up, im no longer allowed to think; Okay? Okay!
annilation, you might as well click the link above you, and then the one above that one.
I'm sure that somebody already noticed it, but you may see huge skull on the floor of the throne room in fsc.
