10 things you didn't know about Spiral Knights
1 it happens too when you throw some pulsar shots at the elevator.
2 it's way bigger than a gremlin, so it's bigger than an elevator.
I've looked throughout this thread, and although people have gone back and forth on the nature of our Knights' noses, no one has mentioned anything about them not having any feet! As far as I can tell the armors go from the knee to the ground, with little to no articulation in between. It seems unlikely that this was mere oversight or lack of detail given that many armors display fingers and thumbs. However, and this is especially clear when looking at the Almirian Crusader Armor or any given Plate Mail, it seems like our knights have peg-legs, or if anything, hooves. Am I really the first person to notice this?
Absolutely not. It's been mentioned quite a bit and the knights were designed like that to resemble some cherubi-like cartoon creatures Ian thought were cute. I forget the name.
Has anyone actually inspected the planet and its name? What does cradle mean, and how can it be relevant to the game?
Just my two cents xD
I assume that "Cradle" is like a baby's cradle for the Core, it shelters it and keeps it safe.
A baby's crib can be full of bedbugs, but still protect it from the dangers of what lies outside.
Sigh, why is no one appealled to my darker version of what cradle actually is? The core is evil and cradle is infact a prison that keeps it away from the universe. Sure it does sounds bad and certainly disobey the lore, but here is some questions that I want to ask, flaws within this seemingly perfect world.
#1 Did we ever reach the core?
The thing is, we may never know, the depth number in SL indicates '???' So the levels in SL is never confirmed to be truely inside the core and judging by the fact the gremlins can build red RT within the lair, it indicates the area SL is build away from the core, or atleast right outside it, and also you have to realize that at the level after sanctuary is depth 29, where Vealyn is at, hence I push forward this conclusion.
"but the echo stone D: they spoke the truth!"
How do you know? IT IS A STONE, have any of you ever considered maybe the rock is baised, it is trying to lie to you, seduce you, convince you to open the core and set 'it' free ? If the 'core' is truelly fine with staying at where it belongs, why did it even tried to communicate us in the first place, just to say hello?
#2 Where is Alpha squad
I think they may have long died and their story is nothing but a hoax, in my fanfic, I promoted an idea that they where cut down at the final terminal by a smaller, more agile and cunning version of Vanaduke and the recon module was setted up by the Spiral Order inorder to maintain troop morale.
"The things written in the module sound very sincere, I don't know about you Midnight, but I don't think they are a hoax."
Maybe alpha team did write them, maybe they did make it into the core, but where are they now?
#3 Almirian lore
Every time I tried to push forward the idea that the creator of the planet Cradle lost faith in Alimire and decided to turn Vanaduke into a monster and destroyed his own kingdom, I always hear ppl tell me to look back at the lore, stuff the LORE, they are told by ghosts and old book written by god knows who. And also, the fact that artifacts/buildings of other civilizations are never discovered in the same stratum as FSC makes me wondered if the 'two other kingdoms' even existed, the thing is, even history lies sometimes, especially human history.
#4 The Gremlins
The strangers says it all, the Gremlins are number less, but even they cannot possibly have builded cradle, this mechanical masterpiece. If so, then why are they here? Are they here to repair and fix cradle or perhaps they are building it into a death trap fearing what would happen if the core is breached. And if they cannot build cradle on their own, then WHO helped them? WHO directed them?
I mean, consider this, why are the tough monsters closer to the core and the weak ones are on the outside? If the core wanted to stay away from the threats in the universe, why doesn't it put its strongest monster on the outter most part of the panet? I mean, if an invader comes, shouldn't the planet kill them all before they go too deep into the clockwork? Maybe it was the other way around, the best sercurity guards are kept closes to the crimminal so they he/she or it will never escape out of the cell in the first place.
"BUT TINKINZAR is evil, he sealed the core away with the swarm seed D:"
Maybe Tinkinzar was once a slave to the core, forced by the core to let his people build cradle, and now the role is reversed and I can be 100% sure that anyone in Tinkinzar position will ensure at any cost that their former master (AKA, the core) will never escape and change the role back.
Of course, these are only theories made by a nobody like me, think of it as food for thought.
"The world is a beautiful place and it is worth fighting for, I agree with the second part."-Morgan Freeman, movie: Seven
OK This is craddle in his entirety http://webpage.pace.edu/abelardo/Italyweb/archive-images/Dante/InfernoBW...
Craddle is indeed built as a structure of depths... this depths are each zone of Dante's Inferno:
Jerusalem, the city, the refuge of living on the surface is Haven
The Hell's door is a zone represented by the control room in depth 0
There are then 7 depths and the eighth is Moor Croft Manor.. see it spelled like this cause it represents kind of a castle... the walls of the City of Dis
if you continue counting til the last round of Judecca you've counted 29 zones (don't count only circles, you have to count every zone) such as the 29 depths of closkworks (core included).
What's the core? Indeed the Lucifer's zone.. A core with a god inside.
If this is true http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/20773?page=11#comment-660836 , I think I'm not missing antthing..
once upon a time, there was a d30, normally reachable by knights.
there also was a d30 in the apocrea event.
Well I don't actually think that everything happens in the apocrea event is canonical: other dimensions, demonic spirits from nowhere, etc.. and well i think that when you say "once upon a time" you mean when the core was that mineral counting thing.. and then i think that the d30 would be a good substitute for the Lucifer's chamber.. excluding the entrance in the hell we have 30 zones.. so it's still fine for me..
I'm searching very hard but I can't find that depth 30.. can someone enlight me?
I actually mean in the beta, where there was the gigant mender greeting you after vana.
And there wasn't any depth 30 as I can see from videos of april, june and july... And I think that Nick would not ask something that happened only in a Beta version...
here ya go. it's in the wiki database btw, even if I found it on google.
and I was partially wrong, this is the preview.
It's a too ancient thing to matter...
A curiosity.. what was on depth 29 in those days?
vana.
if you notice, S5 has one less level than S6. go figure.
Back to the thread: will ever Nick come back here just to answer?
http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/5/5f/Defense_stats.png
We also used to have numbers.
After i saw the #10 i thought there will be months before anyone will figure our what this secret might be.
I was wrong. After reading the comments i came to a conclusion. Most of these theorys seemed to be a bit to overthought.
Exept one... There was one knight that was on the right path!
And so, i went to investigate myself:
Something we see everyday:
-what is the place we all have to go when we need to craft or buy something? where do we return to after completing a mission?
Heaven
Therefore it must be something in Heaven. It cannot be a hidden room or a switch since we can SEE it every day.
What do we always see in Heaven? Snipes and Strangers.
But what if its not something we must see... BUT HEAR!
After talking with the stranger-vendors, at first you cant hear anything unusual. But as you start listening more and more, you begin to hear some wierd clicking in the background. Its not clear what that might be... until you hear the strangers in the town square. The sounds that we took as being a wierd language, are the sounds... of a tape recorder... How many of us have actually SEEN a stranger? They all wear masks and are covered in long coats. The question is: what is hiding behind those masks? And what are those strange recordings? WHAT are the strangers?
That was already brought up in this very thread 4 months ago, I explained it in full detail here 10 months ago, and the notion was considered in this thread a year ago.
Since Nick didn't show up and confirm that it was #10, we can only assume that it's not.
Since Nick didn't show up and confirm that it was #10, we can only assume that it's not.
While I agree with your assertion, this would this line of logic not also imply that we cannot discount any novel theories that come out after Nick's departure? o.0
10. There's lots of secrets in the game, many that we will unveil as we continue to develop the world. However there is one that players see every day that so far as we've seen, no one has ever figured it out. Curious!
So? Why do you repost it?
What if we rearrange every theory made in this thread in a whole new thread? Just to make an easier list to consult...
So? Why do you repost it?
To clarify to people who can't differentiate between pronouns (or in your case, to confuse people who can't differentiate between bolded and unbolded text)
What if we rearrange every theory made in this thread in a whole new thread? Just to make an easier list to consult...
Without someone to actively manage the OP for the rest of this game's existence, what purpose would that fulfill?
Is having every theory in this single thread not good enough?
You could manage my question without be so annoying...
However.. for the second problem.. well I can't count the theories made in this thread nor find each one without spoil it for twenty minutes.. however.. don't you think Nick just forget to read anything about this thread from his last comment?
...don't you think Nick just forget to read anything about this thread from his last comment?
@Gabrihel: I like to think that Nick used to carefully peruse each post in this thread, fully weighing the import of every word, and considering the significance of each character. I also like to think that he shall continue to do so from time to time out of an overwhelming sense of nostalgia.
…we...we...we've…
@Hexzyle: Yes he was talking from the perspective of the team, but I have yet to see another team member confirm or deny any theories, or even otherwise mention #10. Do you think that some other team member will stick around to confirm it?
We see them every day but we don't exactly know what they are aside from being birds? So has any one tried to catch one yet? I mean that would only mean a snipe hunt right? But wait,it can't be it? Can it? A snipe hunt?
"A snipe hunt is a type of practical joke that involves experienced people making fun of credulous newcomers by giving them an impossible or imaginary task."
Snipes are the first thing we notice in the game and the one thing we see every day,so this has to be it. ( even one of the admin is a snipe! )
Also as for snipe hunt:
"The origin of the term is a practical joke where inexperienced campers are told about a bird or animal called the snipe as well as a usually preposterous method of catching it, such as running around the woods carrying a bag or making strange noises such as banging rocks together."
me and my ideas...
You could manage my question without be so annoying...
I'm always annoying. I generally like to let people figure things out on their own (by hinting them in the general direction) but I tend to patronize people who cannot. It's one of the problems with being smart, you tend to look down on others who don't see things the way you do (same could be said for anyone with too much of the other "sought after" values: wealth, popularity, and excitement. My example is any Lockdowner with too much of his share of ego)
don't you think Nick just forget to read anything about this thread from his last comment?
I'm pretty sure OOO staff wouldn't just leave a thread unread in case there be spoilers or swears.
"A snipe hunt is a type of practical joke that involves experienced people making fun of credulous newcomers by giving them an impossible or imaginary task."
Reminds me of the "Jumpeon" answer to the "how do I jump" question in Pokemon MMO.
It's one of the problems with being smart, you tend to look down on others who don't see things the way you do
One mustn't forget your bounteous reserves of modesty! In fact I daresay we are all a bit jealous of the degree of grace, humility, and gravitas with which you carry yourself on this forum!
:p
I try to be humble, it ain't always easy lol
EDIT: Apparently, it's medical o.O I never knew ego-centrism could be a symptom of a mental disorder.
Sry if his has already been mention, I didn't bother to read the whole thing but, the statues are holding a troika lined sword. After studying it, I've also noticed that it has a single eye and horns or ears. possibly ears. ears look like kat ears, kat and dog statues? Cyclops and titan gate? in 1 version of greek mythology, cyclops were a type of titan. The titan gate also has 1 eye. coincident? I think not!
And then I looked at some other pieces of rock and noticed the each 1 has a special design? maybe all of you were right in everything you noticed and the secret was that there was a awesome amount of detail to everything, from the strangers saying money in japanese or candy (didn't your mum say never to accept candy from strangers?) to the naming of cradle and the Spiral order and the gremlin fixing the sky dome.
Nick probably wanted us to study to details of the game and become more appreciate of the work they have put into it. Or I might be wrong and the secret is that strangers are pedos.
just my 2 cents
P.S. the "curious" might be a clue. I searched up "curious" in the wiki and came up with Ancient tome stand, purring cap, curious mewkat and all the bomb heads. eliminating ancient tome stand and curious mewkat because of no necessary importance, I came up with: the bombheads part might be a clue to the future update of the bombing pvp game and bomb heads or maybe that bombs look like knight heads???? also the purring cap is a gm helmet Which I believe to have no importance

It was that Nick will leave Spiral Knights before the game dies.
10th thing has been fulfilled.
I'm sure I am not the first person to notice this, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else. The Brandish line, with the exception of the Nightblade offshoot, is clearly a modification of the Calibur line. At 4* and 5* they simply split the blade in half for the status effect to come out. The similarities in the blades and hilts can't be coincidental, neither can the fusion of the spiral and clockwork technologies mentioned in the lore of the 4* brandish.
Or perhaps it's a snipe-hunt!
Because with mystery Nick gave us hope, and hope never truly dies!
I think I found #10.
Above the AH, is a small plot of WALKABLE land. You can walk almost on the roof. If you do, there are HUGE snipes on top, I mean MASSIVE friggin' birds.
They seem pretty normal sized to m-
Oh...
But jokes aside, our perspective of snipes probably isn't number ten.
There is a possibility that he is joking or just trying to arouse suspicion.
I think number 10 is hidden in the character login screen (maybe)
AKA, it's Alucardlegolas
You only remembered this because I wrote about how I saw the creepy guys yesterday! >8U
Correction: I only knew that because you wrote about how you saw the creepy guys yesterday! >8U
Heart attack and the hex can deactivate Stalkers' cloacks, something that would be very usefull to know while facing them.
the picture u have nick aint that a rare monster that u can find its statue on the left of the fountain?
Um, guys, Nick left.
That's why there is a Nick in the Snipe Garden.
I noticed that when you're at an elevator, and a player enters your party: The lights of the elevator start flickering for a while.
