Hexlash sends congratulations to Blueknighter!
Your prize is > http://goo.gl/qzzTn
EDIT: I LOST THE GAME!
Just edited my post again. And I actually posted post #1000 shortly after I posted post #999. Just thought I'd hog the chance for those who wanted to claim post #1000.
/laugh.
Well I guess in this case the complete opposite have similar enough thought behind them so yes our minds are great vi :-)
And lol at the crazy finish to 1000th post, figured no one would wanna be 999 :P
Every time i refresh the page someone else posted a BRAND NEW post.
Well, double-posting like that essentially just made it so that nobody won the prize. Not going to say what it was going to be, but whatever. Will go into the pool of raffle prizes for the award ceremony.
Might as well give the prize to post #1001 since I sorta cheated. Didn't even know there was a prize, to be honest. I just posted #1000 for fun, not to win anything whatsoever.
She's already declined it. Which is okay. XD (<---- This was a case of my writing the post, pushing "submit" and leaving the window without submitting the second time, then coming back, realizing I hadn't finished, and forgetting to look and see if anyone else had posted in the meantime. XD)
I'm glad I'm awake right now. If I woke up to all these posts in the morning, I'd be like: O.o
We'll seems like not only did I beat everyone to the 1000th post, but you as well Vifig. XD Just kidding.
Alright Tev, well sorry for all the chaos I've created. First to tell you that I've ignored you, and then I cheat to post that 1000th post, that's gotta be too much for one. :P But yeah, didn't mean to sound so mean, if I did.
Alright well I'm out before my presence here rips a hole in the space time continuum or something. See you all on December 14th!
Since when was there a prize for 1k post??? Man oh man Tev, how do you do it? :/
/congrats
Hexlash gives congratulation to Tevokkia
Wait.... Am I invisible? (To everyone but Tev)
Also, Tev, where did you come up with that name??
The name Tevokkia?
It's short for Euatevokkiana, which is a name I made up back in 1996 for a character by mashing a bunch of stuff together (the character was actually a fan character for Captol Critters, of all things, and started with my liking the sound of "Vokkie" better than "Vickie" but not being able to leave well enough alone. I abandoned the fan character after less than a week and made up a new character to give my self-proclaimed awesome name to, with the full name Vir Euatevokkiana Mica du Mikhati).
I wrote stories about this new character Tevokkia, then used the name as my first AOL screen name back when they charged you by the minute. XD It's been my internet handle ever since, and so many people know me as Tev nowadays that I actually answer to the name in real life. It's a little funny that the best way to gauge how my art has transformed over the years is to look at how I've drawn the character Tev and how she's changed.
Euatevokkiana? um.....
Yoo-ah-teh-vok-ianna, that's how I would read it....
Vir Euatevokkiana Mica du Mikhati?
Ver, or Veer Yoo-ah-teh-vok-ianna Meye-kah doo Mee-kha-tee
lol
Why are we discussing this?
Oh yeah.... cuz i asked XD
EDIT: I would empahsize 'Yoo' then once I enter 'ah', I would speed up.... so
YOOo-ah-teh-vok*pause*- iannahh lol over exagerated
You have the speed about right, although there's not much of a slowdown until the last "ah-nah" sounds. The pronunciation is actually ee-WAH-tev-ah-kee-ah-nah. Pronunciation of "Tevokkia" would be teh-VAH-kee-ah.
This SO has nothing to do with the contest. XD I shall remedy that.
New mini contest: Tell me a story about how you came up with your knight's name. It doesn't have to be true, just possible.
EDIT: Hexlash got the pronunciations right for the second "Vir" and all of the other parts of the name, except the "Mi" in "Mikhati" has a short "i" sound. ^.^
Well, I was walking round town wiht the peeps I lvoe and then this crazy freaking ugly bunny ran out of a bush, then becuz' I'm so baws I ripped a sword out of my pocket and then sliced the bunny six times. Then since hex is six, and the 'x' ends in an ess sound, AND becuz' I slashed a bunny, I put hex and slash together, then it became hex-lash HEXLASH. Oh wait *really motherly sweet sounding tone* "Tell me a story about how you came up with your knight's name. It doesn't have to be true, just possible." Oh darn, random wall of text attack? Idk, jk of course I do! So.... just the last part I guess, hex and slash. That;s it. Nothin special.
NO BUNNIES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS WASTE OF TIME. (jking agian...) (About the waste of time, not duh bunneh)
EDIT: The typos were an intentional part of the dialogue to enrich the humor content. The is in no way a display of my 'proper' neurological progression. And Tev, I can see that it does make more sense...

Bashing.... EDIT: Darn, the sword messed up.
EDIT:Too lazy to make new post, but just wanted to let you know I'm on my 6th page for my short fan fiction! Excited Tev?! BTW, before you mentioned it, in 'real life', if someone were to call Tev, you would instinctively respond to it? I couldn't really imagine turning around and saying 'huh?' if someone called 'Hex' in public, but I sometimes do have that temporary brain click when I hear Hex of course.
Heh, yeah. If someone said "Hey, Tev!" I would instinctively turn around and answer. I even call myself Tev in my 3rd person inner monologue at times, which is a bit silly, but you have to keep in mind that I've been Tevokkia for 16 years now, which is just over half of my life.
Double-post, that's cheating. D: Do I win then? :D
Edit: Wow, this ended up being post #1024. o_o
I chose "Mawashimono" because I wanted a Japanese name, but not one of the usual warrior ones, so I chose Mawashimono, which in Japanese means "one who goes around" as a "spy" or "secret agent" like James Bond. I also like the sound and nearness to my real Japanese middle name.
Ah yes the name pballs...many inquire to what the p stands for. Well no one knows ;). However, nor do I...this name is great because it means something different to everyone! Whenever someone asks me what the P stands for, I say whatever you want. They then come up with a few P words on the spot...I have kept a list of 67 words now haha. The most common one is purple balls XD. But where did the name originally come from?
Well...like 9 years back my friend and i started playing online games, and we wanted a short name that we could add numbers to so we could represent that we were friends but different accounts. His friend was named aball92 or something so we decided to keep the ball part and randomly pick p I guess. I chose the number 11 for no reason he chose 19 for less reason than I. Thus, pball11 and pball19 were created. We led guilds and played on many games (I'm always slightly better than him :P), so really if you are to look on some other online games, odds are youll see a pball somewhere there (probably 11 or 19 although we occasionally pick other random numbers). However, this game doesn't accept numbers and pball was taken thus pballs was formed. At least I get many compliments on that name :)

The Legacy of BMA
The man walked down the dark street with a gun, shooting into windows of houses. He could hear the sounds of people dying. The man chuckled to himself. Everything was going into place.
Now to another part of this place, the other side of this city.
A boy watches the television screen with lasting awe. He was amazed by the horrible stories on the news. Just why would some people do things like killing others? The boy lifted himself up off his couch and shut off the television. He looked out a window to make sure he was safe and was relieved to find he was. He grabbed his wallet and opened the front door. The boy's name was Arthur Ist. He lived in the city of Philadelphia. He lived on the east side of the city, near to the Delaware River. His family lived on the west side, where a killer had been shooting the past few days. Arthur has decided he was going to make sure they were alright.
He rushed down the walkway up to his house, flung open his car door, and hopped in the driver seat. Arthur started speeding down the street. After an hour or so, Arthur had made it to his family's neighborhood.
The police had already blocked off the houses with police tape. A man in a light brown trench coat was writing things down on a pad of paper. Arthur went up to him and asked him if he could explain what he had discovered. The detective shook his head. Arthur asked again but yet again the detective declined. Arthur relented and walked away, but before he got out of range he took a quick glance at the detective's paper and saw there was nothing on it.
The police chief came over to the detective and punched him in the face. The man in the trench coat pulled out a gun and shot the chief. She fell to the ground, and started bleeding.
The fake detective continued to shoot officers standing around the scene. Arthur ran over to the dead police chief and ripped a gun from her belt. He proceeded to shoot the man in the leg. Then the other. The man fell to the ground, as his legs didn't work now. The officers still standing put him in handcuffs and called the paramedics.
The officials said to Arthur that they were thankful he had killed the attacker of their chief. They thought it only right he should take her title. Nope, not the police chief title. The woman had another title, "BMA."
ArthurIstBMA....
He didn't think it sounded good. How bout....
ArtyIstBMA?
Then it hit him.

When I was still in 2nd grade at elementary school, I made a robot-looking duck ( LOL) and named it QPALZM (another LOL). My friends saw it and say it an awful duck. Then, they try to rip it apart, that's when I say "Hey, thats "my QPALZM"!
*Number 3 is made-up XD Its awful, anyway

Name backstory, you say?
Y'know, I've actually tried to remember a few times because I remember when and where I came up with it, but not really how. It was a summer day a few years ago when I was walking over an abandoned football field and the weather was lovely, but I can't remember what my thought process was. I think it had something to do with a song.
Either way, it's a portmanteau of incoherent and errant; originally given to a melee character of mine on the first mmo I played, since adopted as a default handle of mine (I'm entirely stalkable).
Oh, and briefly for the alts.
Vap-Vap is, despite popular belief, not named after an unfortunate onomatopoeia (it's a long a, people >:o ). It's named after a character of mine from years ago, which in turn was named after the danish word for puppy (hvalp). But three letters is too few for an SK character name and ... my mind was not in the german gutter when I rolled the knight.
Similarly, Tusch has nothing to do with buttocks (or "a flourish or fanfare of brass wind musical instruments and drums " as Merriam-Webster informs me it is, but people never confuse my naming schemes with innocent things). It's another case of naming after a character named after a danish word, in this case one that means ink.
Doo dee doo
I still need to actually make a proper entry post I am slow okay there are days left and I will be here at like the last minute or something why am I not using punctuation oh no.
Right.
Gratz on the 1000th post thing, thread!
The heck with you late-knight chatters. I feel so left out... (only kidding).
Good to see that all of you are staying active, esp. as the contest winds down. Screw that 1000th, btw.
Mah PhilosoSnipes entry is being edited and added to... still... this probably isn't good. I gotta keep an eye on the calendar. Doesn't help that I spent two hours working on a school project yesterday just to find that the entire file was corrupted and that it purged itself.... so I spent another 2 and a half hours recreating it from scratch. :/
MiniContest 1 (Caption) - Upon finding such a strange sight, our friend Scuttle finds to his dismay that his friends have broken up.
MiniContest 2 (Costume) - https://www.dropbox.com/s/j44ok9uz5qrbrti/Screen%20Shot%202012-11-11%20a... When I draw my knight, I like to draw him like this...
MiniContest 3 (Origin) - True story time. I got the name Sklay about three years ago when I needed a IGN for Steam. I was first thinking about how one of my friends likes to save time when he plays games with the default "Player 1" as the name by exchanging the "P" for an "S" and running as "Slayer 1". At the same time, I wanted to have potentially the word (or sounds or synonyms of the word) "skill" in the name. I settled for a while on "Sklayer" but ended up dropping the "er" because it sounded funny.
As for Latisan... there really isn't anything special about it (and I won't be winning awards for most creative), but it started when I decided that "Sklay" was too short for an IGN and figured I needed a good first name. I sat and thought and determined that I wanted the first letter to be an "L" because L is the coolest capital letter to write in cursive (do you disagree? hmm?). I eventually combined my "L" with the word "partisan" (it means either 'a member of an armed group fighting secretly against an occupying force' or 'biased'. I am both).
Btw, you pronounce it 'LA-tiz-an', not 'lu-TEE-zun' like some people do in pub servers.
Bahaha, the whole "name origin" thing is one of our big questions for guests on the podcast, and Hood and I were gonna talk about it at our Holiday Event... XD We probably still will.
So many minicontests up this week D: probably won't have the time to give them a go. But hey, I got an entry done~

Entry Title: Ember
***
em·ber /ˈembər/
A small piece of burning or glowing coal or wood in a dying fire.
***
The court was stifling. The moving air from some otherworldly wind only brought with it wave after wave of surging heat, a deathly tide that concertinaed endlessly. Rocks crumbled into pools of molten magma that seeped along the ground.
It was pretty hot.
But though the fire burned all around her like a thousand thousand suns, it was always night.
She could hardly see for the smoke in the room and the ash in her eyes. Eyes that stung beyond belief, but did not water. Moisture no longer existed in her world – water was a strange memory, a fading mirage.
A beam, its supports burned off, plummeted from the ceiling above. It fell not half a meter from her, and its fires scorched the ground where it lay. She would have jumped if she could, would have run, would have gotten up and left the vile court far behind her without so much as a glimpse back at what once had been home.
But she couldn't. The court was a prison. Her own body was a prison. Blackened and rigid and no longer hers. That was her curse.
The sprite could only wait, and wish.
***
Here's a bit of trivia: Firestorm Citadel has, without fail, been ranked the Worst Place to Live on Cradle every year since the beginning of the survey. And yet, it is simultaneously the most visited location by knights of the Spiral Order. They file in by the hundreds day after day, ravaging the local monsters and destroying a fair bit of whatever furnishing remains. They don't spend very long, of course – they have since mastered the harsh conditions and blaze through in mere minutes. The Citadel is no longer a dance of death; it is a routine series of motions and rehearsed timing. Stab, shield, ambush the spawn, rinse and repeat. The Spiral Order has more power and confidence in the Clockworks than ever before. Things don't go wrong.
***
"Mind giving me a hand here?"
Shadow turned to his friend, who was standing at the entrance to a room. The rest of their party was handling the slags in the central court.
"It's my first time here," Lio said. "I'm not really sure how to handle this."
Shadow smiled. "Sure thing. This is the Wheel Room." He indicated the maze of fire and spikes in front of them.
"The... wheel room?"
"Mhm."
"I don't see any wheels."
"Oh, no." He grinned. "It's a very silly name."
They entered.
***
The sprite stirred. There had been a noise out of place among the crackle and crash of the burning room. Footsteps? Voices? She strained to see through the smoke.
There! Running across the burning floor and hidden traps were two knights, swords drawn, shields raised. Running toward her. She was struck by a sudden pang of terror. Was this to be her end?
And then as suddenly as it had come, her fear fell away. What could be worse than this? Even a finality would be welcome, and she braced for one.
"Gotcha!"
The female knight sheathed her sword and picked her up in her arms. The sprite was dazed. Was this her way out?
Then the ground split open and a charred arm clawed at the knight's foot. She screamed, dropping the sprite to the floor.
There were a group of slags surrounding them now, the two knights and the sprite backed up against the room's far wall. Once the sprite had calmed down though, she saw that the male knight had the situation quite under control. A few strikes of his sword and the slags were just so much debris on the ground, the infernal fire in their eyes fading into embers.
***
"You didn't tell me that would happen!" Lio cried.
"Whoops. My bad. To be fair, I didn't tell you about the wheels either," Shadow said as he smiled at the wooden barrage cascading toward them. "So I'm at least consistently unreliable."
***
Giant wheels crashed violently as they rolled by, just barely missing them, but the sprite was entirely removed from fear at this point. She was escaping.
A sequence of deft movement and measured strafing and suddenly they were running up the stairs out of the room. She swore the air felt cooler already.
The female knight moved to put her in the centre of the court where several other sprites already lay. It had been ages since she had seen her brethren – now here they were all together again. Eyes bright, walking freely, they filled her with a surge of hope for herself. Maybe things could go back to the way they once had been, before the fire.
But she looked once more at the ruined court around her, and realised that would never happen. Her only chance at a better life lay outside the citadel. Curse or no curse, the court could only ever be a prison.
She stared desperately into the knight's eyes. Tried to convey a sense of her desperation, of her aspiration. Take me with you, she pleaded soundlessly, take me out of here.
The knight stared back.
***
Lio stopped in mid-step. She had been on her way to set the last sprite down at the fountain to clear its curse, but a wave of intense emotion interrupted her. She looked down at the sprite. And suddenly she knew.
"Well hello there," she smiled. "I think I know exactly how you feel. I don't want to spend a moment longer in this place myself. Shall we?"
Lio adjusted her direction toward the elevator. She set the sprite down by a column of moonstone. "Let me get you some water."
As she was heading back to the fountain, her comlink buzzed to life.
The server will reboot in 30 minutes.
"Lio! What are you doing?"
"Just give me a-"
"We have to go NOW!"
Frightened, she ran back to the elevator, no water in hand.
"But the-"
"We need to hurry!"
She stepped on.
***
What was happening? Something clicked in her head; something died in her heart. She cried out in a voice softer than ash.
Her eyes reflected the darkness of the descending elevator.

My default handle was taken- which always irks me, since it's an OC of mine, one of my only ones really, and integral to my life/identity. But it's very often taken. I am so bothered by this that I didn't say what it is here so no one else who isn't already going to take it will, lol. My other wish handle Vivi is always taken. I have only successfully gotten Vivi once, on SWTOR, and then lost it with server consolidation -___-
...
I hadn't planned on interacting with anyone I didn't know irl, since I started SK with my husband and friends... So my name is just my first name and a shortened version of my last name... Now my identity is compromised lololol. Ever since SK though, I'm using this handle more =)
I should have made up a story.
I'm just gonna use the form I used for the previous entry. If this is not allowed or something, lemme know so I can edit this post.

We now have enough entries in the SS Model category for the category to be judged on its own rather than grouped with the other SS category.
Too much real life time, not enough Spiral-Spy time. I hope I can still pull something together by end of week. Xplad scares me as a competitor on account of the sheer volume I've seen from him, but all three models so far have been great.
After I somehow messed up and backspaced, I no longer have the desire to write out the whole real story.
I'll just say "Remilia" comes from an "edit" (for lack of a better word) to the name "Amelia" and has no relation whatsoever to some game whose name I won't even mention. "oftheearth" comes from my love of that element. Incidentally, that's why I like green so much.
Now that's out of the way, I'll make my entry.

@Incoherrant, post 1031-
A better, stronger, faster Scuttlebot? That'd be a good idea. They be slow and weak.
And send the bill to the Impostocube. They're so bored they're letting knights kill them.
I think we could do with some rebuilt Impostocubes, come to think of it...
Hey Tev, what if you (if you know by now what time the ceremony is going to be on) posted a post at the EXACT date and time the actual ceremony would take place, except like, 3 weeks before hand, so that everyone knows at what time you posted it at, so thy know what time it is for them, for example:
Blah, blah blah, lorum ipsum and all that good stuff, Awards Ceremony is taking place at the time and date of this posting, 3 weeks from now. Blah, blah moar lorem ipsum.
Then, people would know what the time would be relative to game time... right? Idk, just a thought, but of course I'm expecting you to announce all the times and stuff on the actual day, so that everyone can say, 'Okay bros, the happy time is 2 hours form now'. So yeah.
@Fallenhope.... I object, that would be me....
EDIT: Oh since your here artist, I just wanted to say your little story was coo. lol oh and I don't know if you knew this or care, but my brain has always read and probably always read your name as: 'Artist bis-ma' I have no idea why. It feels better in my mouth than 'Artist Bee-em-ay' or not, maybe I'm jsut used to it :3
I'm leaving the poll up until the closing time of the contest and will let you all know by Monday, provided that I've been able to speak with St. Leone on the matter. Based on the votes already in, it looks like we're most likely going to keep the original date of Friday evening (my time).
I'll try to to the "exact time and date" stuff a week ahead of time and a day ahead of time, and I'll also announce it a few times on the day. Hopefully that will clear up any leftover confusion.
I guess I should get around to this.

I just want to know what day it is in your timezone so I can prove my theory.
~Abyss
Heh, that's what my characters in my novel look like! Human face and body then the regular outfits of dem knights. Nice job, Trydeth!
Firstly, I just ran outta names to begin with. Abyssal came from a story involving an abyss I just read. You can guess where Flamberge came from.
I played for almost 2 years now. I had several characters; Abyss was the only one successful. Sad story...
Well...
Okay. So...the real meaning behind my name (The-Knightwalker) is probabaly...insanely boring and completely uninteresting.
So...
I'll just write 2 versions (am I even allowed?); one real and one made up
Story from my imagination aka. the one that is actually remotely interesting:
I stand victorious, though battered and bruised, we have won.
I stand tall and proud, after that battle fought till dawn
My enemies and allies lie slain alike
Broken, damaged in the suns harsh light
Me, The Knight that is unchanging and strong
She vows to correct whatever wrong
This path she walks must be risked
Continue their legacy, for those missed
________
Yeah. Cheers for my (pathetic) poetry xD
The REAL meaning behind my name:
Okay. So there's this manga (Japanese comic, basically) I read, called "Fairy Tail" and my favourite character is Erza Scarlet. That was the name I originally wanted, but it was already taken. Then I had an IDEA. Because in this, they have a kind of "counterpart world" where there is like another version of everyone.
And Erza Scarlets counterpart is Erza Knightwalker. Which is where I got the name from. Also, its actually pretty related to Spiral, because Erza magical ability (yes, it's about wizards) is called "The Knight" and allows her to requip (basically change) into different kinds of armour (she can change it while in battle, though, unlike in Spiral Knights) weapons, armour, shields etc. plus she has like different sets of equipment, kind of like loadouts! So yeah, that's where my name's from.
lol you cheater
palindrome!
