Idea to merge guild vault and mission board

so basically you could have guild members complete a daily "Guild Mission" kinda like an extra prestige mission(in that it automatically sets it to your tier), except the cr you collect(or possibly a certain portion of said cr), would be automatically deposited into the vault.

*this is just an idea for adding to the vault. i like the current incarnation which includes a ledger, etc., etc.
**this idea could also be used either in conjunction with, or in opposition of, the donation system currently posted

@Eviloddish:

Referencing my OP:

"|[Guild Member's Name] is the Top Donor of the Week! (!)"
"(!): Got this idea to (mayyybe) increase incentive for Donating to the Guild. It may change to "Month" because of the likely typical donation rate. I think it'd be a great addition, especially for promotions."

@Omoikami:

Actually, if I were to twist your idea a tad, a Guild Mascot might be fun to have. A gremlin holding your banner, or a Mecha Knight with it strapped to his back. Other than being for show, it'd have no real purpose though. Fun idea.

@Shiftblades:

Funny thing...I originally had a Shooting Range mini-game within the Guild Hall in this thread. I edited it out due to balance issues, Hall space, etc.

@Dark-Xoa:

Bottom of the post, point 3. We basically ("We" being Mwahahaha, Hexzyle and I) did write an entire Guild Missions' system, but I didn't want to digress from the main topic here, namely, Guild Halls. I still think that's for another thread.

I do, however, love the idea of doing missions that deposit rewards into your vault. This would allow me to increase the prices of all the Upgrades (Since small guilds would just have to take a longer amount of days doing the missions), as well as being a pretty good mist/CE sink which gives little to no rewards to the player himself, rather the vault.

I don't think I would include these "Donations" (Mission earnings deposited to vault) in the ledger, though. They are doing a favor for their guild but they're not strictly 'donating'.

This is what SK needs. Not new LD maps (although they are nice!). I would spend way too much time in there, but hey, it would be awesome! I really like "Jukebox Hero." xD

Also, "Alphabetical *shouldn't* make a difference, except that people will start guilds called "0SpiralKnights" so as to be #1 immediately." You can't put numbers or symbols in Guild names, just A-Z and dashes.

Ty.

@Kellnox: Heh, thanks. I didn't know that you could only put letters or dashes, but the point remains the same. "aaaSpiralKnights" Might look kind of stupid, but it'd probably have more people than the other guilds.

Thanks for pointin' that out though. =)

@Neonde: The problem with Guild Alliances is that there's nothing to ensure total conflict. In WoW for instance, people are devoted to one side or the other (usually) due to the fact that they have invested so much time on a character for the horde/alliance.

In Spiral Knights, you'd just get the top 5 Guilds to all become allies and, voila, you have the USSR. United Socialist Spiral Reign.

It Has Begun.

Despite the rather ominous and evil-sounding title (rather much like my namesake--I assure you however that I am of good-hearted nature...I think), I bring happy tidings!

Has anyone popped into their Guildhall recently? If not, then you might want to take a peek--no longer is it the gloomy, dusty broom cupboard that even Harry Potter would grow weary of, but they've started to change it bit by bit; I won't say much more, instead I'll let you experience it for yourselves!

Go on, take a look! :D

I have to admit that it's not much in comparison the the changes we would like to see (represented by this thread), but at least it shows that progress is being made!

On another note, I agree with Sev on the Guild-Alliance idea. However (this is where it gets interesting), I only agree on the idea that guild alliances should be permanent.

Now I'm reasonably certain that, at this point most of you believe I have returned to the forums only because I escaped the clutches of the mental hospital security guards, and the other readers have already half-dialed the emergency line.

Fear not, I am not [dangerously] insane. Rather, that's what my pet parrot keeps telling me. But let's not be a stickler for details--Moving on!

Here is my reasoning:

We'd all love alliances, much like our guilds, to remain permanent as that connection with others is rather satisfying, if not comforting at best. As I mentioned though beforehand, I agree with Sev that a permanent guild alliance would turn Haven into a small-scale futuristic Wild-West standoff with higher-tech weaponry.

That's just a couple crumbs off the toast, though--what, really, could you possibly do with a Guild Alliance? Dungeons are already made so you have allies, Haven is a no-fight zone, and LD already has team options. In short--it's redundant to recreate something already there.

What could be said though is that temporary guild "connections" (for lack of a better word--and you'll see why I didn't say 'alliances') could be made between 2 or more guilds for a certain event.

As it currently stands, not many guild LD or BN games are played--the only time that it does happen is if two GMs of separate guilds happen to accidentally trip over each other's swords (which I must mention are just as large as a knight--it never fails to amaze me how we don't trip over them on a daily basis), bowl themselves into the innards of AH Looney-Tunes style, emerge disgruntled (possibly with sharp pointy objects and/or bombs in places we shall not name on this thread) and after a lengthy conversation agree on gathering enough people to do a guild LD/BN.

So, I suggest a feature where one could "join" two or more guilds (with a limit of up to four, possibly 5?) guilds together for a limited period of time. This joining would then enable those guilds to easily arrange cross-guild events and competitions that otherwise would--and let's not kid ourselves--never happen.

In order to prevent a continuous cycle of guild-grouping, there would be a 24-48 hour delay before the previously grouped-guilds could be rejoined.

What do you guys think?

My apologies for adding less-than-the-usual amount of comic relief--It escaped during midterm season, and I've been chasing it down ever since. I get the feeling that my sense of humour has the form of a shaggy dog, because it leaves bits and pieces everywhere as if it's shedding, but never fully dumps the whole load to make matters simple.

I think I'll stop rambling now. Wouldn't want more cases of insanity, do we now?.......Do we? Insanity's not that bad....I think.

Tell me what you guys think! Er, not about the insanity, about the relevant info in this post. Opinions on insanity are welcome too. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Fantastic ideas. Too lazy to read through all of this thread right now, but I have at least one idea.
Guild Lockdown 2
A LD mode in which six, eight, ten, or twelve guild members face off against each other, in the way of normal LD but only those in your guild.
There are teams, but they're both in the same guild.

What do you think? Not that big, or that good an idea, but honestly you've covered most of everything, lol.

Guild improvements and missions

If i understand well the guild improvements need crowns and ce...I think that a good idea will be if we link the guild levels/Dungeons with the guild improvements..When you finish a guild mission that it ll always need a full party you ll take guild points like prestige...The improvements will be unlocked and ready to buy it with the price u posted...I think its important.Because that way, to improve your guildhall u ll need teamwork from your guildmates..And futhermore missions need time..Imagine a guildmaster buy ce with real money and improve the guildhall in a second(boring).Sorry for my bad english..

Missions, the Vault and Training Areas

Firstly, forgive me if any of this has been said already.

I. Guild missions

-I think this idea in its current state is weird in almost every way and completely screws with the story and progression of the game. As discussed, doing missions at random - or in "just any order" - would rip the story into many little pieces that no one wants to have to clean up. The easiest way to solve this would be to think up an entirely different set of guild-exclusive missions. The problem here, of course, (besides the devs having to come up with a bunch of "side quests") is that guild-less players would not have access to these missions. So, not an optimal solution.

-The next-best thing for random missions is to have the guild elevators behave just like normal ones, except with a few tweaks.
-First, make them have a guild-specific reward (explained below).
-Scrap the idea of making them harder, there is no reason to. Difficulty levels are scaled and balanced for gear and number of players, being in a guild does not necessarily make completing them any easier.
-Open parties could appear on the message board (which should preferably look different than the Mailbox).
-Have a notification appear in the chat, as well as on-screen (if the player is in haven) or hidden (if the player is in the Clockworks, on a mission, or in PvP). This notification would say something like " [guildmate x] is starting the mission/gate [level info]" and then have join and ignore buttons.

II. Guild Vault

The vault, since it was originally proposed to be purely for guild/guildhall upgrades (and not like a bank, whereby players could take out money for themselves), should NOT use crowns/CE. If buying currency was not an option it would be fine but since it is this is not a good idea.

As stated by Thorfinns,

" ...I think its important. Because that way, to improve your guildhall u ll need teamwork from your guildmates... And futhermore missions need time... Imagine a guildmaster buy ce with real money and improve the guildhall in a second(boring)."

No, it has to be in a way that is fair for all and can't be done just by buying currency.

-Make guildhall upgrades worth "guild reputation" or something like that, a system that works similar to the prestige system. At the end of every guild mission completed non-solo, the guild bank gets a number of reputation points. These points can then be used to purchase upgrades for the guild and guildhall. This will make it take longer for a smaller guild to get upgrades, but that makes perfect sense. A smaller guild should not, by nature, be able to fund itself as well as a large one. [idea inspired by Thorfinns and Dark-Xoa]

Example: guildies 1,2,3, and 4 go on a mission from a guild elevator. The mission is worth 50 rep. After the mission, the guild bank gets 200 rep. towards more decorations, extra facilities or whatever. (I also had an idea about purchasing additional guild space over 100 ppl. But that's off topic...)

III. Guild Training Area

-Add some sample mobs to show their different attack patterns and so forth. Ex. Gremlin hammer dash, Trojans, reaver charge, wolver burrow, etc.

-The sparring system could use major alterations. As it stands, the system would only be good for friendly dueling, but would serve no practical purpose. I suggest adding a LD/BN training area, where more skilled players can teach newbies the basics, mechanics and secrets of PvP modes. Also intra-guild PvP is an element that the game is sorely lacking for some guilds. (Us LD guilds need ways to train our newer members, and gl doing that in random LD.)

Whoah... this is one

Whoah... this is one incredibly fleshed out thread.

@Klipik - Using use crowns/CE would be fine. You've got to give OOO some revenue. The upgrades should be bought with a combination of crowns and prestige points.

Here's one more idea:
A guild vault for crystals (not energy crystals, but the ones you collect the levels and sell them later for chump change)

Anyways, to control how the Arcade changes, you would need a huge amount of crystals. Unfortunately, there is a cap of 99, so a single player would not be able to influence it much.

But if an entire guild might be able to collect enough to change the levels around.

The guild should have one of those chutes from the arcade, except they would help store the crystals.
When the guild goes on a guild quest, they can use those crystals and dump them into the arcade chutes.
The arcade chute also has an button, which would change the level if enough crystals have been thrown in.
If not enough crystals were thrown in and the button is pressed, the arcade won't change.
The more crystals you throw in, the more difficult the level becomes.

There should also be guild missions to hunt down rare monsters like Slooms or the original Kat, where finding the right combination of crystals needed to change to the right levels would be useful.

Elementary.

It's good to see another in-depth poster--it's been so long since I've had to respond to a post like this.

Ah, but I will reminisce later.

@ Klipik:

Let's get right to the meat and potatoes, shall we?....On second thought--meat and potatoes sounds rather dry and tasteless...how about spaghetti and meatballs? I think that sounds about right. Thank the heavens the Italians thought to use spices more creatively than the rest of Europe. No, really.

1. Guild-Exclusive Missions

A) As we've mentioned before, the suggested system for guild missions is not our final opinion, but rather the best idea we had at the time. I suppose I should have gone back to thinking about that aspect, but I must've forgotten along the way. Thank you, though, for bringing it up.

B) I agree that the missions would not be available to guild-less players...but that's the point. The rest of what I should say here is pretty self-explanatory--or at least I hope it is. Moving on!

C) I couldn't ask for a better opportunity to re-explain the guild mission story progression. To be quite honest, OOO has done quite well with making the storyline non-linear, but not so distant that one must sit down with their smoking pipe in a comfy chair by the window, and ponder the storyline while rhythmically chanting 'Elementary, My dear Watson' to get the instant cognitive abilities of Sherlock Holmes which one would need desperately in order to create a coherent plot. Then again, I believe I noted this certain concern earlier on when I first suggested this idea.

Now, you might wonder, where exactly am I going with this? Well, it's quite simple: the method with which OOO has used to implement the global mission system can still be used to create the guild-specific missions while creating a novel plot that still goes along with the theme of Coral.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the name, Coral is the planet in which you delve, randomly thwacking growth she tries so hard to put up, killing what could have been a good dessert multiple times with careless abandon, and cheerfully bash in (if not freeze and electrocute to death) the skull (or what resembles such) of Lord Vanaduke. What's that? Jelly King eats you? Well, how would you feel if someone tried to kill you multiple times by sticking a sharp and rather pointy (not to mention shadow-y) sword into your gut? That's a rhetorical question--don't actually answer that. Ahem. Right. Moving on.

Difficulty of missions? Details negligible--it's up to OOO to decide whether they should be harder to justify the gain. Next.

D) As Hmmnm pointed out, using CE and CR as rewards for completing the guild missions/levels is perfectly fine--it uses an already-used currency as a basis for purchasing GH upgrades, and it saves OOO the trouble of creating a whole new currency (that's exactly what it would become) for the sole purpose of decorating the GH.

As for the notifications, I do not believe the suggestion belongs on this thread--this is about GH upgrades, not game mechanics--but I will respond to it in a few words: Not a good idea. Let's say your guild has a busy day--seeing those notifcations pop up every 3-4 seconds would be a nightmare. The 'Social' menu already implemented in the game is more efficient.

I believe the 'Party-Finder' Menu solves the issue of open parties for guild missions--all they would have to do is give the guild missions a higher priority on the list.

2. Guild Vault

As stated before, CE and CR are perfectly fine for the purpose of purchasing GH upgrades. I realize that this creates the opportunity for people that buy massive amounts of CE to quickly liven their GH with splendor, but its a personal preference on whether or not to spend money on a free game. As Hmmnm also pointed out, it's a good source of revenue for OOO.

The idea about Guild reputation, however, is a good one--if you don't mind, I'll address that later.

3. Guild Training Area

A) I'm confused. You say it has a purpose, but then you say it is pointless. Now, I know you're not the living embodiment of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but I'll let's keep your personalities in one piece. Preferably, at least.

If I've read the OP correctly (which I'm pretty sure I have--Sev would have my head if not a few other choice body parts if I had started commenting heavily without any knowledge of his ideas), the sparring room is a scaled-down LD--it eliminates the need to worry about captured points, and gets down to the fighting that people concentrate on regardless of the points captured. An in-guild BN/LD could be a possible add-on, however.

B) Enabling sample monster attack patterns, I think, is pushing it a bit too far. the Advanced Training hall is a perfect example of why--it doesn't have any of the creatures that exist in the Clockworks available for practice.

Now you may cry out 'Why not? Practice makes perfect!'

I totally agree, however, not in that respect. The point of not making the creatures available for practice is so that whoever faces the creatures, if they haven't before, find something they haven't encountered before, and so have to find the best way to deal with them. If all creatures were made available, the game would be rather boring.

@Hmmnm:

Interesting idea with the crystals (I do believe they're called minerals by the way), but it would make matters too complex--not to mention that OOO would have to increase the mineral yield per fragment (smallest= 4 minerals instead of one, etc) in order to supply the amount needed for both the arcade and the Guild Elevators. Best leave the minerals to the arcade, and keep the Guild Elevators all alike, and more dependent on missions or daily changes to the theme.

I'm not too sure if people saw the post I made earlier, but comments on that post are MOST welcome! The feeling of seeing an uncritiqued post is rather unnerving, I must say.

~M

End-post Edit: Just realized how long this is. Have fun? Try not to go too insane? Super happy fun reading times?

I can't remember which pocket did I put that ten million dollars in...

Purpose of the advanced training hall and a capture system

Purpose of the advanced training hall
1. Gathering damage tables. Seriously, i'd be happy with just three indestructable poles one for each damage type, which would tell me the damage of a weapon when i hit them.

2. Figure out a way to kill an enemy which you have trouble with.

3. Learn new skills, which you wouldn't want to try when in a party (like how to take advantage of invinvibility frames)

Of course, having training rooms with permanent moving enemies would defeat the purpose of the game.

Suggestion: Trophies
Guild members will turn enemies into statues, collect them in a hall of fame, decorate/deface one as a mascot, put them around the place as decoration, and revive them for training.

In the Guild AH/mssion board/etc., players can give bounties for certain statues.

In the Guild Mission waiting rooms (and maybe guild lockdown), you can pick up a cage/box/pedestel with curse signs on them, which are like statues. If it is put down, it will be attacked by enemies as if it is a knight. If it is attacked, it will crumble and dissapear.
To capture an enemy, click the shield button to throw the curse at an enemy. If there is a bounty on the enemy captured, the bounty will be shared by the entire party, and the statue is mailed to the one who payed. If there isn't a bounty, anyone in the guild can use it for training. Or decorate the place. Or use it for a mascot.

Meanwhile, the Advanced training hall would have a gong to revive the statues. And turn them back into statues in case you bit off a bit more an you can chew.

__sad face__

@mwahahaha
1. You spelled my name wrong. :(
2 Aww you destroyed all of my ideas.

OK moving on to actual content, I still have some questions/corrections/clarifications...

1-B. the part that you said was self-explanatory... Either wasn't self-explanatory or I lack common sense. (50/50 chance.) If someone wants to play the game solo, locks all their missions and arcade runs, never plays multiplayer, etc then they would miss out on a chunk of the story. Or, if they just sucked really bad or for whatever reason, could not get into a guild the same thing would happen. How is this a good thing? It's like the Mass Effect 3 problem where to get the full story you had to buy Day 1 DLC, play mobile games, etc. Getting simply "the game" should get you the whole story.
----> unless maybe it would be ok if the missions directly tied into being "guild missions", like the Spiral Order came to the guild for help... Still don't like the idea.

1-C. I think we have the same idea here but in the OP it says, "'Regarding the missions, there is absolutely NO order whatsoever, and every knight will (hopefully) start and progress with different missions than any other. In that sense, the mission order would be, again, like roulette, save for the fact that any mission already completed would not show up in the same way, shape or form that it already has existed in.'" that's not linear (good), but if you tried to make sense of the story from that you would have to do the Sherlock Holmes chant thingy.
---->I thought about how this might make sense but then I realized that there is no way to make missions without a story.

3-A. Let me clarify- and expand. The proposed "sparring room" serves no PRACTICAL purpose in its current state because any skills gained would never be used OUTSIDE of the sparring room. It is supposed to be a training area, after all. What I propose is a system with more possibility for actual training, instead of in-house competitive death match.
-I agree no control points, but I think there should be classes.
-instead of team death match, make it more flexible and less competitive. Teams could be joined much like mission/clockworks parties, and there is no score limit.
-only 1 plain rectangular flat map to start, but other maps could be purchased as upgrades. This is to try out tactics on different maps.
-match ends after 10 mins but can by stopped if an officer or higher is playing.
-not sure how to incorporate BN into this.

@hmmnm:
- how is your "monster trophies" idea different than my "having all the monsters" idea? Either you have all the monsters to start with, or you have them all eventually. I like having the monsters capture-able, but I think they should remain in stasis for display (and defacing) only.
-also I am confused: 1st you said the purpose of the ATH (assuming you mean GTH) was to "Figure out a way to kill an enemy which you have trouble with." but then, you said "Of course, having training rooms with permanent moving enemies would defeat the purpose of the game." <(?_?)>
-you double posted.

Some other new ideas:

I. Display Cases
-instead of making the display cases next to the guild elevator, put them in a Trophy room or Showroom.
-adding hmmnm's idea, display "monster trophies" here as well. Especially rare ones like Rock jellies, mewkats, etc or special ones like a Battlepod.
II. Visiting
-for the GH entrance in haven, make a Public and Private entrance. The Private entrance is only accessible to those in a guild, otherwise the door is locked with a sign that says "you must be part of a guild to use this entrance." using this entrance would get you straight to your guild. The public entrance brings you to the Room of Many Doors, which displays guildhalls to visit.
-On the problem of how to choose what guilds to display in the Room, use the reputation system I suggested [earlier]. The top 5 guilds would be displayed with actual doors, and a console would be available on the side to sort guilds by rank, alphabetical order, creation date, or # of members. It would also have a Search Bar.
-call Achievement points reputation points. "achievement points" personally breaks my immersion. If you accomplish something noteworthy irl, you don't get an "achievement" but instead you'd gain respect and recognition.

That is all.

It's a nice idea, but this thread has taken a knife to the stomach and it's bleeding harshly, with half the intestines gone.

:o

I'm glad this thread has stayed alive in my absence.

I'm also glad Mwahahaha has taken the initiative to respond to your comments.

While scanning over, I did notice these:

"instead of team death match, make it more flexible and less competitive. Teams could be joined much like mission/clockworks parties, and there is no score limit." -Klipik

I actually like that idea.

"I. Display Cases
-instead of making the display cases next to the guild elevator, put them in a Trophy room or Showroom." -Klipik

Since you're buying an upgrade to have them there...why not?

"-for the GH entrance in haven, make a Public and Private entrance. The Private entrance is only accessible to those in a guild, otherwise the door is locked with a sign that says "you must be part of a guild to use this entrance." using this entrance would get you straight to your guild. The public entrance brings you to the Room of Many Doors, which displays guildhalls to visit." -Klipik

Considering there is only one door (Or open space where a door could be placed), how would you propose to have two doors?

"-call Achievement points reputation points. "achievement points" personally breaks my immersion. If you accomplish something noteworthy irl, you don't get an "achievement" but instead you'd gain respect and recognition." -Klipik

Achievement points are the mainstream terminology, to which anyone who knows anything about video games can relate. Whether or not they are called "Reputation [points]" in-game is up to OOO. I don't want people getting the idea that they are any different from achievements.

As far as trophies, I don't mind them but being able to practice fighting mobs that reside in the CW is something I want to avoid as much as possible. Display cases that contain a Mewkat, Impostocube, Soul Jelly, or other rare mob, and maybe even Shadow-Lair bosses, that have a plaque that says "[Guild Name] has defeated XXX [Rare mob/SL boss name]" would be neat enough.

Finally, regarding Guild Missions:

They would not directly influence or go along with the main storyline. They might, maybe, support it in some way or provide some "little-known" information. Or they may just be Guild Prestige Missions that would increase your guild's prestige, which could be a standalone currency, for lack of a better word, analogous to "reputation". Obviously they would have to differ from your normal prestige missions, you would have to use the Guild Elevators, go in a party of Guild-mates only, etc. etc.

Maybe you could even purchase upgrades that would have a price like "XXX CR, XXX CE, Prerequisite: XXX Guild Prestige" in the future.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

There's a lot of thought in this. Most of these sound great and i wish they could be implemented.

But i'm just a dreamer :c

Seems I'm not the only one ^^;

You have my support!
I've read trough the summary and get the general idea.
It seems very nice and better worked out than the idea I had, if you still want to read trough it, I'll post a link:

Maybe you find something you didn't think of in it, I don't know ^^

+1 Respect Energy for you.

Also, ranks

Atm there are only
Recruit
Member
Officer
Guild Leader

Which is too few imo :/
In our guild you get promoted to Member when you have enough skill, but people of 5* and 3* have the same title then, which I don't like u.u
Officer is the same as Moderator in my eyes and Guild Leader is the leader of course.

More ranks would make it a lot more interesting and people will work up to gain ranks too, which makes the guild stronger too.

Maybe they should add custom ranks, where people can add their own ranks (limited of course)
Or just add some extra ranks.

Don't know how many or which, I just think this is rather necessary.

ummmm

i was looking at some youtube videos about minecraft and i seen that when you have one of a flag up you can like spwan base on the type of flag

EX:

A flag means

killers (well it mean someone thing else and i just have to look it up

so im saying is that we can buy a flag like that for guild hall and each day we get 1 person to help you for forever you can say

like that sould cost a lot of cr or ce but you can like for free if 5 emebers of your guiild are at the a highest rank in the missons or you get one for free at each hall of heros missons

you can try that

Bump

There are really interesting ideas in there.

I do hope the team is planning on giving the guild system a bit more depth. I would be thrilled to see some sort of in-game guild announcement option at the very least. I'd imagine hosting a guild events would go a lot more smoothly.

A guild leveling system is another idea. The amount of lockdown, blast network and dungeons runs you play can get the guild exp, It'll add up when you play with other guild members. Higher levels open up new options or features you can obtain. However, there is a daily cap to the exp so you can't max your guild overnight.

A guild reward system may be a nice turn of events in regards of making a simple goal that everyone can agree on and everyone can help pitch in.

Not much else to be said here.

Congratulations to everyone who helped this idea come to life, and a huge pat on the back (perhaps a beer or two for those who are old enough) to those who helped form this idea!

Nice Severage I really really like it!

I like this idea. I really thin that SK should approve it because this will make it more fun for guild members who have nothing to do even when they are in a guild with a lot of people. Since this is such a unique idea its usally the unique ideas that are really good and as you can see Severage has made an unique idea which will take this game to the next level

Gold

P.S by the way everyone my steam name is eliteeman so add me! NNNOOOWWW!!!

WHOOPS just found out it was a success, but oh well I sure everyone would be happy about this that the SK team are working on it!
