This thread will solve most problems seen so far. Please read each step carefully.

1. Does your computer meet the minimum requirements to run Spiral Knights?

The minimum requirements are:

Windows & Linux:
  • Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8
  • Java 1.6
  • Display 1024x600
  • 1.3ghz processor
  • Graphics: 64mb Video Memory. GeForce 5 series, ATI Radeon 8500. Latest video driver.

    Sudden case of invalid Steam UserID ticket

    I can't play the game anymore since I've started getting this error every time I launch it. It worked just fine earlier in the day.
    As the error message suggests exiting the game and quitting Steam completely, I've both restarted Steam and my computer to see if it would help, but it didn't fix it.

    Edit: The problem has gone away overnight. I assume it may have been tied to an increase in Steam downtime reports around the time, but I couldn't find any official information on the issue.

    Spiral Knights Won’t Launch on MacBook Pro M3 – OSError256 / “(null)”

    Hardware & OS:

    MacBook Pro M3 (Apple Silicon)

    macOS Sonoma (latest version)

    Steam latest version

    Problem Description:
    I used to be able to play Spiral Knights on this MacBook as recently as August 3rd. Now, whenever I try to launch it from Steam, I get the following error:

    OSError256
    The application “Steam” does not have permission to open “(null)”.

    The only option is to close the dialog with “OK.” No window prompts to authorize the game.

    Steps Already Tried:

    Verified game files in Steam.

    Game Stuck at Login

    Hi,

    I've been playing SK on Linux (Ubuntu) for years through Steam, but, about a month or two ago, it stopped working for me. What happens is that the game gets stuck at "Logging on..." forever. Usually, the client times out after a while (few minutes), but now, it seems to get stuck showing the same message indefinitely. And I don't even get an error if I uncheck "Use Steam Account", and type in random credentials which means it's network-related?

    Has anybody else been experiencing constant crashes lately? I'm currently unable to identify why it keeps happening, but the game will just close itself at random moments, and it makes the game nigh unplayable.
    I have not once had this issue before the patch.

    Logged out of steam and can't log back in?

    So I was playing just fine earlier today and when I exited the game. Couple hours later I come back, click on the game and it asks me to log on ingame but there is no option to "log in with steam" just "log in as guest" and I tried putting the username and password but it said to logon through steam which I was doing and yet there is no option ingame to do so.

    How do I fix this problem?

    So, I'm having a major problem getting this game to install to a new computer. Every time I attempt to install the game, I receive a message saying the following:

    "We were unable to download necessary installation files due to the following error:

    Downloading timed out.

    This may be due to temporary network problems or a more serious error. You may try again later or we can display a web page that provides alternative installation options. Would you like to view the web page?"

    Every time I go to the "web page" in question, I am met with the following message:

    hey sorry idk if this is the right forum but im a co-leader of a guild from 2014 and my co-leader quit the game / hasnt been on since 2017 and i was wondering if we could get him removed from the guild or demoted below fellow guildmaster for removal as it wont let me for whatever reason? im trying to spruce up the place and 35 inactive members that could be better used for new guys would help lol
