issues launching the game after 2026/05/11 update

Ever since yesterday, I can no longer login into the game. The process fails at the little update window that gets launched first before the actual game opens up.

I am playing via the standalone client from the website with my windows 10 PC.

When I double click the executeable, following happens:
    - a little window with the title ,,Spiral Knights" pops up
    - a bar gets stuck at 28% or 39% when saying ,,Verifizieren der Daten"
    - after some time passed of this stage being stuck, it says something like "timeout after taking too long", and I am forced to close the window.

    Troubles logging in

Hello, returning player here. Been a good while since I last touched the game, some 5 or 6 years, give or take, but the recent upsurge of updates have relit the old spark of even older days back when Sega was still in charge, Mist Energy was a thing and Forging didn't even exist. And I guess there were no pets back then either. But I digress.

The problem appears to be one with connection.

Issue Launching Game on CachyOS - Unable to initialize the game's graphical display

    Good afternoon,

This started happening after the Forge update dropped. Whenever I hit the play button on Steam I am greeted with a Java window that says, "We were unable to initialize the game's graphical display." I have followed the steps to ensure compatibility but I am still unable to launch the game. I have also tried uninstalling the game, deleting the game files and installing the game again, and verifying game files integrity through Steam.

    My PC specs are:
    OS: CachyOS
    CPU 9800X3D
    GPU: RTX 5080
    RAM: 32GB

These are the two warnings I get in the projectx.log file:

@GH: Please unsticky old announcement, because it messes with the RSS.

The old announcement "It's Time To Gear Up And Celebrate" is the only one stickied, which makes it also appear first in the RSS feed, and RSS apps which don't sort them by date automatically always display the stickied one first, making it look like nothing happened since that announcement at first glance.

Connection quality worse after Forging Ahead update

Hello from Asia, I'm aware I'm a bit far away from any servers but I have noticed a general decline in connection quality across all servers since the Forging Ahead updates. In the preceding month I've had generally acceptable connection quality to every server except LatAM, but that seems to have changed.

In the past I've had roughly 130ms of ping with the AU server, which was fine, but now I seem to have roughly 210ms at any given time.

Linux: no audio since forge update

I was excited when I saw the announcement and started up the game on Tuesday. I had some issues that have already been reported and/or fixed (e.g. with the escape key) but also audio didn't seem to be working at all. I tried again Tuesday evening after one patch and again today, but there's still no audio.

In game command chat is bugged after the most recent update

Before today's update, you used to be able to directly open the chat by typing "/" to enter commands and fast travel. After the update today, typing "/" now enters two // in chat so youre unable to type the command until you delete one of the slashes.

This makes it super inconvenient to use any emotes or to talk in guild/trade chat, and fast travel.

This isnt an issue thats just happening with me, everyone ive talked to in game since the update has this happen.

    Forging Ahead Bug

With the new update the default settings for keyboard movement has the knight LOOKing with WASD instead of the mouse. Me and a spanish speaking knight ran into this issue.

For those expierencing the issue, my advice is go to movement settings and remap the look off of wasd to a useless key (like '='). It should go back to default mouse movement being the indicator.

That aside, thank you for the update and the attention on the game. I think you guys are awesome for work that's been put in, and I continue to be excited for the developments y'all put forward. Keep up the good work.
