Crossbow gun

I think a cool idea for a gun is the crossbow. Before anything else, I shall list them all off:

2* Crossbow

3* Sharpshooter

4* Speedy Sharpshooter, Poisoned Crossbow, Fiery Crossbow

5* Bolting Sharpshooter, Venomous Sharpshooter, Blazing Sharpshooter

So, the weapon line splits at 4*.
The charge attack will be a massive glowing bolt, that looks clearly like a normal bolt that would come from a crossbow. (For the fire it will be orange and flaming, for poison it will be green with green bubbles coming out, for the normal it will be light yellow.)

Disabling Chat Messages

There should be an option to disable certain types of chat messages -

For example, there would be check boxes (somewhere) that say:

Enable "obtained material" messages [X]
Enable "friend/guildmate logged on/off" messages [X]
Enable "received mail" messages [X] (There would still be the orange "new message" indicator on the mail button)

Status inflicting shields

Yes, status inflicting shields.

Not when shield bumping, though - Only on shield bashes.

-----

Fire: Blazebreak Shield, Dragon Scale Shield, Heater Shield.

Freeze: Blizzbreaker Shield.

Shock: Surgebreaker Shield.

Poison: Dread Skelly Shield.

Curse: Barbarous Thorn Shield (lower chance than usual).

-----

This will likely result in those shields being slightly nerfed somewhere else though....

Dueling, the perfect update.

Okay, so we made http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/111625 and we think about friendly fire. We argue in the coliseum about 1v1s, etc. But what this needs is dueling to settle everything. Dueling , AKA fighting opponents in one on one combat to prove skill, worth, sometimes wealth, and ability to lead a group of other people has existed since the dawn of time, when cavemen tried to bash thier heads in with stones for that nice tasty dinosaur fritata.
So to summarize, dueling works like this.

Stop working on this game

and instead start to work on a single player adventure game in the same setting of the spiral knight's universe with a strong narrative.

You can just use a lot of the resources already coded into SK. At most, you'd need to add are a few more puzzle oriented mechanics, and even then you could easily make a strong narrative driven game with what's already in the game. No longer will you need to update the game with cosmetics for those cash whales or keep spending money to host the servers when you can just sell the game for 20 bucks.

Friendly Fire option, inspired by taking a pillow to the face

So, I'm sure we're all aware of the tendency of "Sweet Dreams" to smack fellow players, even outside of the Coliseum.

This has inspired me. The option for each individual player to "take friendly fire" could open up a whole new world of gameplay.

In the options menu, check or uncheck the following:

-Take friendly fire from all (weapons, shield bash, pickups, sprites)
-Take friendly fire from swords
-Take friendly fire from bombs
-Take friendly fire from handguns
-Take friendly fire from misc (shield bash, pickups, sprites)

Bring Power Mitt and Heater shield up a notch (BTS too)

With the Debut of the Teddy Buckler I became concerned for the game's balance......

Stat-wise it is comparable to the Heater shield or the Power Mitt. The most noticeable difference is that the Teddy shield offers TWO status resists while the Heater Shield and Power Mitt only have ONE status resist.

The Katana

We have Shogun Helmets and only one weapon that's somewhat similar to a Katana? I think it's time to change this. Introducing the Katana line, a fierce blade with two alchemy lines.

Tachi **
Fast strikes dealing Normal damage.
Charge is just a strong forward stab, any opponents hit with it are dealt 2x the sword's damage and no knockback is dealt.

Katana ***
Same speed with increased damage.
Charge remains the same as before

Dark/Light Katana ****
Same speed, more damage (Dark does Shadow Damage, Light does Piercing)

Daily Quests

I know, I know. We have daily prestige missions. But What I really miss in Spiral Knights is daily quests. i.e. Kill 10 members of the slime family; reward-3,500 crowns.

I think this will motivate people to log on more often. I know a lot of games that have this daily kinda quest-y stuff and I often catch myself saying: "Gotta log on to (...) to get mah rewardzzz".

This will not only motivate people to log on, it will also help lower tiered players in ranking up.
The example I gave only has a minor reward, I mean, what can you do with 3,500 crowns? Yeah, not that much.

New Slime: Oozeballs

Oozeball/Toxic Oozeball/Burning Oozeball/Frozen Oozeball/Silver Oozeball

These would basically be enemy spawners, draining their own life to spawn stuff that tries to kill you.

They can't attack on their own, and would eventually explode after spawning enough enemies. You can reduce the number of enemies they can spawn by attacking them (or just kill them before they can spawn anything).

The enemies they spawn look similarly to Glop Drops, but act completely differently. I'll call them Oozedrops for the rest of this post.
