There's a reversed issue with the Crescent Helm, as well; the original variant has the front slot while all its recolors don't.
As mentioned, it's one of those issues that Spiral Knights tends to overlook for whatever reason, and topics similar to this have come up everywhere on the forums in the past few years. I wouldn't expect it to change, but there's always the hope that the game devs will do something about it.
At the very least, you can use SpiralSpy for picture-renditions.
You're asking Grey Havens to implement a small quality of life improvement that should take all of 5 minutes to implement from a programming standpoint, and would also show that they care about what the players want and not just the money because this would improve the game without necessarily boosting profits.
That will never happen, you should probably just Graveyard this post. It's just clutter to GH.
Metayya. Just because they don't always fix these things doesn't mean the NEVER will. There's always that slight chance. If many people post this over and over they most likely will because it would bring people to think that GH cares less about us than they actually probably do. Compounds were implemented as the devs' answer to "increase difficulty". They never bothered to polish or balance it afterwards. The likelihood for total party wipes has far outweighed the rewards since day 1.

Note that the Gunner Update added several completely new models and items, 90% of which are reskins of each other. The Winmillion is a single sword. Ironically it is often cited as the most gun-like sword.

basil is fine the way it is, if they removed the HoH recipies it would get even harder to sell the good basil recipies.
the minimobs are not very fun, but the compounds are very difficult and if you're looking for a challenge that's the way to go.
winmillion deserves a 5* but you can't just slap together a new weapon, it takes development time.
oh, and back on topic: add some accessory slots for the authentic halloween masks. please.
